Just another casual Rainbow Dash simp with a fascination for pony - changeling interactions.

T

Changeling

That's what the zebra called him anyway.

He called himself Murex, he doesn't know why but it just feels... right.

He lives in a forest, a dangerous one at that but he gets by. He can fight off, even eventually kill, those big fur things with claws and weird tails but he doesn't go out of his way to.

Mustn't waste energy. That's what the zebra says anyway.

He was prowling the forest waiting for that burning ball of light to come but it never did.
Then six ponies entered the forest.
And his life was never the same again.

Great start, I love the way that this is written.

Looking forward to more

...... Give me sometime to think about this one.

If you don’t write a follow-up to this chapter I will be disappointed.

You act like I’m close to finishing this story. I’m having too much fun with it to stop now.

10833623
No I just don’t know what you plan on doing next. That’s all it is. And to be fair, none of the chapters so far have continued off a previous chapter.

And so Zecora is proven right. Nothing good comes from ponies.

Ignore the warnings to stay far away from town and this is what happens to you.

Sadly he will still be a fool and protect ponies who go into the Everfree.

"I understand killin’ but I sure as hell don't understand you sheltered bastards.” -ThePhoton

I’m very curious as to why twilight just lost it like that. I know she is prone to bouts of mania, but this seem extreme for someone who holds friendship and science close? She never even asked for samples beforhand

10843887
At the current time, changelings are an unknown and undocumented. Twilight is a must know everything kind of pony, combine that with the fact she already tried this and her being late on a friendship report and you have a recipe for disaster (Lesson zero happens later in the show but I pushed it forward just cuz)

Twilight is on trial for what she did huh? Good. I am satisfied. I look forward to seeing what fate awaits her.

10843887
Its really not out of character for Twilight at all. Also consider that she grew up in Canterlot living in close proximity to Celestia and the nobles. As well as noble children. So she grew up a minor noble indoctrinated by classism. Being taught that the poor are less valuable as well as growing up with a serious racist society. Remember that Chancellor Naysay never one tried to hide his racism, because it was normal, much like the 1920's US. Stores and restaurants had signs saying shirts, and shoes required, whites only.

Also bear in mind that Celestia who runs the country never saw a problem with this, and if you believe that the head of such an influential (and important to the government, ) institution didn't work closely with Celestia, you would be foolish. As for in story, I think its telling that Celestia never tried to help the changeling, only left him to fend for himself, only checking up on him to ensure he didn't harm ponies. Used him when he became useful, as a distraction. Much like tossing a pit bull into a combat zone to confuse and harass the enemy. No one really cares what happened to the pit bull, but its chaos may save a pony or two.

I think Zecora is the one to watch and take the lead from.

Now I have to say this about oaths and other foolishness. I'm closing in on 50, and I can tell you that in the real world of adults, I have never once seen honesty, righteousness or any other platitude work in the favor of anyone. In the end, things worked out due to other reasons. Better skills, better planning, better timing, better teamwork. In every single instance where everything was equal, or where nothing else mattered to the outcome, those who were honorable, lost or paid a price for it in the end.

There is a reason why so many people fail in romance, in life, in employment, and that is because we were all taught lies when we were children. The reason why so few succeed is [Results, Choices, Beliefs.] When your results are always bad, It's because you consistently make the wrong choices, If you are always making the wrong choices, It's because some fundamental belief on the topic is wrong. You can not make good decisions until you find the core lie and replace it with the truth.

It took me 40 years to learn that lesson.

This is interesting so far! Keep up the good work! And now for pointless opinions and viewpoints from a mad changeling...

I feel like without Celestia's and/or her friend's guidance, Twilight will only get worse... what kind of worse? I do not know... but she sure won't be a lovable dork. I hope she gets help, but maybe that's the point.

But this story isn't like what I'm used to reading about "changeling meets the mane 6".
In fact, I will admit, im a bit niave to this kind of direction.

10843912
Well... here is how I see it, I could be wrong but hell... here we go!

Twilight has anxiety. Especially when it comes to disappointing her mother/teacher.

In lesson zero she had a mental breakdown from anxiety induced stress that impaired her judgement. And she still only focused on solving a friendship problem.

Stress can make people lose their minds and do things they wouldn't normally do... like that kony guy that stripped but naked and ran around talking to himself because work was getting to him.

But... the way you do it makes for a good setup for drama now and/or later.

This is how I see it, I'm not saying that neighsay is not racist... or that you are wrong. but read my view on it if you would. I could be wrong, and that's fine.

Celestia's plan was to have someone new bring everyone together for the first time, ponies have been over their internal racism for a bit, now to branch out and take it further. Now to bring others to their wonderful country.

The world they live in is still young. Population hasn't grown enough into other creatures territories yet. Creatures don't have a very good relationship with eachother yet because they have only had small encounters, and they likely weren't very good... rarely is. But they weren't bad enough that they weren't willing to try, so it can't be that bad. Most ponies probably don't even think about it... they are just some strange creature far away that they have never seen. They might be afraid at first, but not hateful.

Ponies are naive and sheltered.
Gryphons are stubborn and selfish.
Dragons are violent and arrogant.
Changelings take but give nothing... also they invaded.
Scorpan was met with kindness by the ponies so he didn't want to steal from them, but both him and Tirek went there to do bad things regardless of how it turned out.
Discord...
Grogar...
Other creature haven't exactly given the ponies a reason to like them.

Celestia knows she needs somepony (in this case ponies) with good hearts born from the era of peace and harmony that she likely has worked VERY hard to achieve. She is a relic of the past and can't fix it herself, she knows this. That's why she needs Twilight to be special.

As far as Celestia being ok with it?... no., I don't believe she is. She has likely worked very hard to slowly reform society from the racism between the three tribes. That stuff take hundreds if not thousands of years to go away. The only reason it was undone so fast is because ponies are a bit gullible and stupid to be honest... actually, all of them are to be honest. And no, I doubt neighsay has even shown his racism before this. The species weren't close enough to have tried this before, so he has never had a reason to show this. Most certainly not to the ruler of equestria.

Also, Celestia had to get her own school up to their standards. THE RULER HAD TO GET HER SCHOOL APROVED! This likely means Celestia nerfed her own power out of fear because she could end up like Nightmare Moon, or Equestria had things in place before Celestia became ruler. Celestia most certainly wouldn't put out a law saying ponies weren't entitled to their own beliefs and opinions.

In this case, the opinion that other creatures are dangerous. And he is not wrong, this world is not exactly like ours. Also, In their world, the other species are also other nationals. Nations HERE don't have a good relationship even now! Let alone when they barely knew eachother.

Neighsay was willing to let it go and give it a chance, untill the rowdy bunch almost got people hurt, cementing his beliefs. Making him KNOW he was right.

But then he saw a bad pony and good creatures and almost immediately changed his mind.

Looking forward to the next chapter. The story is great so far.

More chapter or oof. Your choice author.

I am enjoying writing this story so I won’t be stopping anytime soon I hope.

Out of curiosity why did you label this story as second person? It's quite clearly third.

Easy guide:
*1st person: I did this (great for mysteries or any time you want to limit the scope of the audience. Can be amazing when pulled off well, but requires a good voice; see Dresden Files, Twilight)
*2nd person: You did this (very uncommon outside of smut, usually used in reader-inserts. I honestly usually skip anything with this tag; see any of the Give Yourself Goosebumps adventure books)
*3rd person: They did this (the "standard" story format. Used in the vast majority of popular works; see Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Dragonlance, Wheel of Time)

10863546
Tbh I honestly forgot what 2nd person was, just didn’t look it up and wrote the story. It’ll have to change then. The tags of course.

*Rubble Trouble Moscow menu theme/theme 1 plays*
Correct choice.
What's bazinga?

It would seem that some ponies need to learn the difference between a wild animal and a sentient being.

the trail of Twilight Sparkle

time for a recess from the trail

Trial.

The guards attempted murder in front of a princess is just going to be ignored?
Even without the ability to command them that should justify some kind of response.

Ok, who else wants to see that guard get executed?

Some ponies need to learn that life is not a right, it is a privilege that very few deserve.

10863730
I understand. I thank you for the knowledge.

10863600
Bazinga is Sheldon’s (from Big Bang theory) catchphrase kinda.

10863634
This is the Canterlot nobility we’re talking about here.

10863680
Spelling corrections. Love to see it.

That wasn’t sarcastic it’s great to have others point out errors to help the quality. I thank you sir!

10864117
And you aren’t good sir/madam!

10864130
I’m a guy.

10863680
Correct. That guard’s actions would result in at least a dishonorable discharge if not court martial.

This has been an awesome story so far, really looking forward to more

You know now that I think about it it’s possible that Twilight’s mom could be held in contempt of court. Maybe.

before he met them he found an old building, different from the other one the mares found. A pony rose from a stone box and swore vengeance on everything alive.
His meat tasted bland.

Why did he kill him?

what? an undead?

is he somehow still connected to the hivemind? would explain the voices

Seriously, does nobody saw wrong in the guards?

10870464
Probably a lich or vampire of some sort.

10877169
It's one of those things that only you can answer. Cause I'm definitely not gonna tell ya.

Haha! Look at me using google translate to talk!

This not google translate, it is Hindi keyboard from online.

"Pardon?" Murex asked aloud. Too taken back to form any further words. His friends, especially Rainbow, had similar reactions.

"Yes dear sister, if the attack was as vicious as we hast been told we then believe a far harsher punishment is in order." Luna agreed with little hesitation.

I agree.

Still a good chapter. And much enjoyed

It is quite entertaining, I would like to say more, but normally I don't think much about fics, I just enjoyed them
