Once again, both Celestia and Daybreaker will be upset that Orion got away. I wonder if the latter will punish (murder) the agents who failed to capture him in Prance?
Interesting turn. And indeed IF he is "not in trouble anymore" why is he still being chased by Equestrian authorities on foreign soil , and all that stuff.
10907436 Well one thing that comes to mind, would be his knowledge and inventions that they could/would (ab)use. And then there was Celestias whole "breeding plan" she had for Orion and Twilight, but no idea if that is still on her "list". And who knows what else...
Damn, So he just forced himself out the forcefield. What a mad lad, also i hope these are really the pirates and not agents in disguise using illusions
I almost did a spit take when I saw another chapter being posted so soon.
So Both Rarity and Twilight were actually Celestia's agents in disguise. Definitely didn't see that one coming. It's kinda scary that Celestia is still throwing such a large number of her resources into capturing a single stallion. I'm almost afraid to think about how far she'd go to capture Orion when she finally learns that he's the Enchanter.
And let's not forget about the fact that Orion fought Nightmare Moon when she returned. I'm assuming that means he not only had his reunion with AJ, Rarity, and Twilight. But met the rest of the elements and Luna as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that went.
10907616 I got that chapter done in 10 hours. Including editing. I stared at it for about 20 minutes this morning as said "screw it", and went ahead and posted it this morning.
I am pretty happy with the way that went down. And leading it in with him continuing to recount his own tale with the children I think was a nice touch. That way everyone can get the full story rather seemlessly while still knowing what is going on.
That is something that bothers me. If Celestia is still ignorant of his talent, why is she so focused in capturing Orion, to the point of allowing an open hunt in Prance thus risking the secrecy of her power over the technically independent country?
10907433 I think the motivation is simple: Orion embarrassed Equestria. He embarrassed the Princess by standing up to her and revealing to the world that she is fallible. He embarrassed the judicial system of Equestria by showing how corrupt they are to the populace. He embarrassed the Royal Guard and the Church of Sol by escaping their grasp in Canterlot.
Overall, when a nation, especially one that is the superpower of the world, is humiliated repetitively, it does not go over well for the one who caused said embarrassment.
It is possible that Celestia is obsessed (attracted) to Orion due to him treating her different than her subjects or any other stallion before him. Whether or not that is the case has yet to be confirmed.
10907684 I think we will learn the reason as to why when the author addresses Orion’s involvement with defeating Nightmare Moon.
It will either be that Celestia caught a glimpse of or heard about Orion’s talent as an enchanter. If the latter, I think it will most likely come from Luna, who will mention it casually during a conversation (whether en-route to or back at Canterlot Castle). Due to being absent one thousand years, Luna is unaware that enchanters are scarce to non-existent. Thus, when she mentions Orion’s talent, she will think it to be no big deal.
a) Is pissed at Orion because how much ruckus he has caused in her country; not to mention neighbour countries like Griffonia and Prance.
b) Is intrigued about his knowledge, talent and secrets.
c) Has, at the very least, a soft spot for him for treating her like a mare rather than a Princess, being a suitable partner for Twilight, risking his life fighting Nightmare Moon thus helping to save Luna...and because he reminds her to a previous stallion who catched her interest long ago.
Well, if Orion wasn't in trouble before, now we've got:
Being in Prance illegally.
Destruction of private property.
Resisting arrest.
Jaywalking
Assault of at least 5 law enforcement members.
And that doesn't even take into account his admitted business dealings with pirates/smugglers, trespassing into Celestia's old castle, assaulting royalty (Luna as Nightmare Moon), sexual harassment (a.k.a. why he's pink), etc.
I am loving the twist. It got me rereading the previous chapters to see how well it was supported. It looks like slowly building suspicions, with his natural caution ultimately saving his bacon.
I am curious to see what got the authorities back on Orion's trail. I wonder if Luna might have been the one to confirm to Celestia that he was still alive. But I'll just have to wait and see.
10908315 It depends on what the author will do. If the author makes it where Luna has unlimited range in regards to her dream walking, then “yes,” she is a threat. If the range of her abilities is limited to Equestria, then there is nothing to worry about.
There is also the question as to whether or not Luna can view the dreams of non-ponies. If not, then Orion’s being formerly human might protect him. Again, this depends on what the author will do.
I have to ask why didn't he burn down the building with them in it? It seems out of character for him to allow Sweety Drops to continue living, just for her to show back up time after time until she catches him.
During the chase scene, he didn't kill anyone. Seems foolish to me. I'll knock you out, so you can stand back up and chase me again.
Isn't that three strikes on Golden Trot? I mean, how many chances is he going to give these people to live?

I think Luna is going to be a wildcard in this. Celestia in this universe is a manipulative control freak. Someone who never changed since the time of the uprising. As a matter of fact, she may even be more manipulative. Luna may find herself in a gilded cage. Or worse, emotionally manipulated.
Luckily, her dream walking gives her some freedom.

10909658 I disagree about it being out-of-character. While Orion has killed and is good at it, he doesn't like doing so. It's made him sick and given him nightmares. He's also seen former foes learn from their mistakes and become friends/allies on multiple occasions.
I can also argue that he really doesn't want to be sentenced to death or life in prison again. Resisting arrest is one thing, killing an agent of the crown is another. This Equestria most definitely has the death penalty.
10909706 Red Bear is correct in this. Orion doesn't actually like to kill. Oh don't get me wrong for certain people, like carnivoric assholes, there is always an exception. Especially if there really isn't a sure fire way out of it.
I didn't want him to become a wandering murder hobo whose first instinct is to cut down anyone in his way. He fears what he has done in the past, and with this world having very real elder beings who might be actual gods, he's not willing to take the chance of condemning his soul.
10908569 These questions have already been answered in the previous book for the most part, in the chapter Homecoming. 10909665 I expect you're right. I look forward to exploring Luna's position and role in upcoming chapters or books.

While I do agree for the most part, Orion is also level-headed and realistic. His life is already basically over if he is recaptured. He has two separate organizations after him. (Assuming the church is still after him) I just don't see him just letting the same person go, over and over, and over again until he makes a mistake and disappears. In my opinion, he is too realistic for that.
Of course, the Authors rule is always law.
On another note, now that that stallion knows Orion still has his V card, it will be interesting to see if he tries to get our hero "hooked up." or maybe a surprise visit from his herd's mares. Oh, the humanity!

Considering he did what was essentially considered impossible, doubtful. No one could guess he had a way around the anti-teleportation field.
Interesting turn. And indeed IF he is "not in trouble anymore" why is he still being chased by Equestrian authorities on foreign soil , and all that stuff.
10907433
Why indeed...

Finally, we’re getting into the meat and potatoes of what the hell Orion has been doing!
Additionally, I liked the abridged high school reunion, but answer me this, the sarge that betted on Orion escaping, have we met her in the story yet?
Oh my god these two chapters have shocked and surprise me for the sudden change, brilliant writing lad
10907447
Yes. Yes you have. Briefly toward the end of arc 1
10907450
Thank you good sir. I am to please.
10907442
I can't give you much more right now. Events in the end game of this series of chapters will give away far too much.
10907453
No prob. I will gladly wait for new chapters.
10907442
pretty sure they know he's the enchanter at this point in the story and we'll learn why in future chapters.
10907451
Ok, I need a hint, which chapter?
Damn, So he just forced himself out the forcefield. What a mad lad, also i hope these are really the pirates and not agents in disguise using illusions
10907453
Ok, I admit the plot twist totally got me pants down.
Will we get at least the Orion VS Nightmare part? I wonder what Luna thinks about him.
10907463
Lol nope, xD trust me the character will make a return, but not as a sergeant originally.
YAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS

Crap, just realized Luna's talent as the Sandmare may represent the greatest threat to Orion's secrecy for obvious reasons.
