That is hard-coded into the site, if I recall correctly. The story's rating does not show until it has a certain number of total up/down votes. I think it's 10 total, though iI might only be in the ballpark.

Really? I've written stories in the past that have had far fewer than 10 votes but have still shown the likes/dislikes. I've always known that you can voluntarily turn off ratings, but is this code something new they decided to implement?

Another good chapter, I like the moral of how savoring (appreciating) what you have makes you less greedy. Poor Illania never aging though, sure she's going to get tired of immortality eventually. XD
