On their first “true” friendship mission to Griffonstone, Rainbow Dash is reunited with an old friend...Gilda, whom she had a bone to pick with since her last time with her, and how she disrespected Pinkie Pie. They all found out the the Idol of Boreas once united the Griffins, and without it, the town was dreary than ever.

They decide to try to retrieve it, and they almost do, but Gilda saves them and forgets the idol, upon realizing a moment when they were good friends together, and decides that friendship is much more important than gold.

But, what if she saved more than her friends?

What if she not only saved Rainbow and Pinkie, but also saved the Idol of Boreas as well? How different would it turn out? How would Rainbow and Pinkie react? Would it still end the same?

An alternate ending to The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, and the fourth in my alternate ending series.

Gotta say saving the idol did well, nothing. It's just a partal transcription of the episode with a little superfulious dialogue thrown that just hammers the lesson in. As much as I'd like to praise it, the change didn't matter.

Decent alternate ending, though I'd prefer if Gilda was the one who ultimately decided it wasn't needed

I was hoping to get into some political reconstruction here!

I just find it stupid.
Even if the idol isn't needed anymore, it doesn't change that it is an important artifact of griffin history, throwing it in the thrash is utterly stupid. Have the decency to put it in a museum at least instead of spitting on history.

Nice story!
I enjoyed reading it.

About the ending:
They manage to fetch the Idol from Abysmal Abyss, a place where it is considered unreachanble for centuries.
But fetching it from a trashcan is impossible?
I mean, if anything they could at least use it as a paperweight or something.

Also, it's Griffon, not Griffin; at least that's how it's written in the one episode title.
