Treason
1 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family. 2 : the betrayal of a trust : treachery.

If you don't owe allegiance it can't be treason, that's the key component that makes it what it is: the betrayal of owed allegiance. It's why treason is generally considered such a heinous crime.

Instead, Chryssi waged (or levied) war on Equestria; she launched an invasion as a sovereign power. :twilightsmile:

Well, that's true. but consider this, the crimes committed against Twilight. She's technically still an Equestrian citizen, and one of the princesses, when Chrysalis attacked the second time.
