This is a good premise. You've got their characterizations down good so far. Your grammar is very good. You have action mixed in with bits of humor that balance well and don't overwhelm the story, and still focus on the girls and their personal lives. Good dialogue.
Yes, this type of story has been done before, so it's not novel in that sense, but there's alotta potential here and plenty of room for some unexpected plot twists. Plus you left us off on a good cliffhanger that promises more. And I, for one, look forward to it! Please continue!

This chapter could be used as a nice setup to future chapters and plotlines. That aside, it could also have stood as it's own brief one-shot; a story into and of itself.
Heh, while I appreciate the mention of Gloriosa, one would think Twilight might be more interested in seeing Gloriosa's brother instead.
Since there might be other portals, they may not have the same connection(s) ...
As for the translation/accommodation bit, Spike may be a special (companion) but if either side wants to know, the Student Six might help for a side quest (at least for the current time) ...
