Hugs Heal Bad Mood

Twilight slept peacefully in bed, snoring softly, with Luna sleeping on her right side. Behind her, on the left side of the bed, was a side table with a phonograph. She slowly opened her eyes, stretched her hooves and looked at Luna’s sleeping form with a sweet smile. She couldn’t help but agree that Luna was quite cute sleeping. She wondered what Luna was dreaming of. Was Luna dreaming with her? Or maybe with her sister? Well, she hoped that Luna was having a good sleep.

Then, she saw her princess’s beautiful turquoise eyes slowly open and couldn’t help but smile when she saw Luna wake up.

“Good morning, Luna. Did you sleep well?” asked Twilight.

Luna looked at Twilight with an unhappy face. “Yes love.”

Twilight noticed Luna’s grumpy expression and tone and was concerned. “Luna? Are you alright?”

“Like every morning, the answer is no. I woke up in a bad mood,” Luna replied, looking to the right and pouting.

Twilight raised an eyebrow confusedly. “Every morning? Do you wake up in a bad mood every morning?”

“Yes, you know that I am the Princess of the Night, right?”

“Yes, Luna, but what does that have to do with your bad mood?” asked Twilight, not understanding why Luna asked that.

“So, as I am the Princess of the Night, I stay up all night, protecting ponies from nightmares, and depending on how many ponies have nightmares one night, I may or may not leave the Dream World to go to sleep,” Luna explained. “But unfortunately, there are times when I spend an entire night in the Dream World, and with that, I get tired and in a bad mood.”

“So, are you in a bad mood and tired?” asked Twilight before getting confused. “But it doesn’t make sense. You don’t even yawn of tiredess or have dark circles.”

“It’s because I’m not tired,” Luna replied.

“So, why are you in a bad mood, Luna?” asked Twilight, even more confused.

“As I said before, there are times when I spend an entire night in the Dream World, and with that, I get grumpy and tired. But today I’m not tired, just grumpy.” Luna explained.

“But do you enter in the Dream World when you sleep?” asked Twilight, knowing that Luna was sleeping with her in bed.

“Not really. I enter through my magic,” Luna replied.

“So, does that mean you didn’t have real duties last night?”

“Yes, but unfortunately, I wake up in a bad mood even when I have no real duties.”

“So, does that mean you wake up in a bad mood every morning, no matter the circumstances?” asked Twilight in a detailed way with a raised hoof, wanting to be sure.

“Yes, but that’s because I’m not somepony active during the day, just like my sister,” Luna replied. Twilight agreed in understanding.

“And how long does your bad mood last?”

“When I am sleepy and in a bad mood, I go to sleep after having breakfast. But when I’m just in a bad mood, it will disappear in a few hours.” Luna explained.

Twilight looked at Luna with an empathic look. She wanted to help Luna get better from her bad mood and even had in mind how she could help her, but for that, she needed to ask her marefriend first. “Do you want my help to get better from your bad mood?”

“Yes, but how do you intend to help me? With books?” asked Luna.

“It’s not for books that I’m going to help you, Luna,” Twilight replied. “I have a technique in mind that will cure you from your bad mood.”

Luna raised an eyebrow curiously. Wouldn’t Twilight help her through books? Now this is something she never imagined seeing. Normally, Twilight would go to a shelf to search in a book, but it looks like Twilight had another idea of how to help her. She wondered what Twilight had in mind.

“So, if it’s not for books, how?” asked the dark blue alicorn.

Twilight smiled and said in a cheerful tone, “You will receive hugs to cure your bad mood!” That said, she enveloped Luna in a loving embrace, in which it took the Princess of the Night by surprise.

Luna was speechless. She didn’t expected that Twilight intended to help her stop feeling grumpy for hugging her. She didn’t know how to feel about this. Two parts of her were fighting inside her: a part of her was enjoying this and even wanted to return the hug, since it was somepony close to her who hugged her, but another did not wanted to know about physical contact because of the bad mood being present and wanted to move the little alicorn away from her.

Twilight decided to caress the princess’s fur to see if Luna’s bad mood could go away. She can’t help but agree that her fur was very soft, like a coat or fur blanket, only twice as warm and soft.

After a few minutes, Twilight stopped caressing Luna, and decided to look at Luna to see if her mood was gone, but unfortunately the bad mood was still present. Even so, she would not give up. Twilight decided that she would talk to Luna for a while to see if her mood would subside, at least a little.

“So, Luna, how was your week?” asked Twilight.

Luna looked surprised by the suddenly Twilight question, but she replied, “Aside from the fact that my sister and I had our Cutie Marks switched by Starlight when she was helping us at the castle because we were fighting, and I am in a bad mood now, my week was good.”

“Oh yeah! I remember that day very well,” said Twilight with a smile, just remembering when she used a spell to posses a music box that had a ballerina in order to help Starlight with the Royal Sisters’ friendship problem.

“How about you?” asked Luna.

“I bought a new book,” Twilight replied.

“A new book? What is the book about?”

“The book talks about the whole story of each of the creatures of Equestria.”

“Have you finished reading it yet?”

“Of course yes. It’s been three days since I finished it and wrote a review of it.”

A question soon came to Luna’s mind. She looked to the left side, with a little shyness present in her. “Did you… did you miss me or think about me these past few days?”

“Of course yes. I even thought of you while you were sleeping here in bed with me,” Twilight replied with a sweet smile.

Twilight’s words and sweet smile made the princess’s bad mood gradually subside, making her no longer uncomfortable being embraced by Twilight. Twilight seemed to have noticed, and it made her happy, knowing that her technique was working perfectly and going according to the plan.

Twilight soon felt two front hooves wrap around her, she didn’t have to guess to know that it was Luna who returned the hug. She wondered if Luna wasn’t in a bad mood anymore, but she didn’t want to jump to conclusions, so she didn’t even ask, at least not yet.

After that, they closed their eyes, breathing softly in the comforting embrace, and able to hear each other’s heartbeat, but they were not sleeping. As Twilight smiled in the hug, Luna felt her bad mood start to fade.

A few minutes later, Twilight decided to look at the Princess of the Night to see if she was already in a good mood and noticed that she no longer seemed in a bad mood, but at the same time, it looked like she was still on account of having a neutral expression on her face.

Seeing this, she decided to nuzzle her marefriend’s muzzle with hers to see if she could get a smile off Luna’s face. This took Luna by surprise, but she slowly smiled with the affection and returned the nuzzle. Twilight smiled with the affection returned and even let out a light and fluffy giggle, and continued to nuzzle Luna’s snout, and Luna on Twilight’s. Luna was enjoying this, because she was starting to feel in good mood.

After ten minutes, both stopped giving nuzzles in each other. Twilight then decided to kiss Luna on the cheek. Luna smiled and returned the kiss, but decided to kiss Twilight’s forehead instead. Twilight closed her eyes with a smile, and kissed the Princess of the Night again on the cheek. Luna placed another kiss on Twilight’s forehead, and Twilight closed her eyes with a smile again. They have been doing this for a few minutes, exchanging loving kisses on each other; on the forehead and cheeks. One kissed one at a time, allowing the other to kiss back as soon as the other was done. They were both enjoying this, especially Luna, who was now in good mood.

When they stopped, Twilight relaxed again in the embrace, but she felt a hoof lovingly caress her mane. She looked at Luna and noticed the dark blue alicorn smiling at her, and Twilight couldn’t help but smile back, maybe that meant that Luna had already healed of her bad mood, but she would ask her later. Now, she just wanted to enjoy this cuddly moment between her and Luna.

An hour passed, and they were still in bed, hugging each other. Twilight decided that now would be a good time to ask Luna about her current mood. Breathing out a little breath, she asked, “So, Luna? Are you feeling better?”

Luna opened her eyes and looked at Twilight confusedly. “Feeling better of what?”

“Of the bad mood, Luna,” Twilight replied, now looking at Luna. “Are you feeling better of the bad mood?”

A smile appeared in her face. “Yes love. I’m feeling so much better now. My bad mood is completely gone thanks to you. Thanks.”

“You’re welcome, Luna. I did my best to make you feel better,” said Twilight.

“And believe me: you really did, love,” said Luna, stroking lovingly Twilight’s mane with a hoof.

Twilight smiled at Luna’s words, knowing that she managed to help Luna get better from her bad mood. With that, she closed her eyes, let out a slight sigh, looked to the left side and said, “I’m happy about it, Luna.”
