Obviously, if one doesn't think of flying, then one falls or is this more of what goes up must come down??

10611367
True, it's a little of both of those, in addition to the fact that Mareta is an earth pony (like her husband and son) and older folks are generally less flexible in their thinking (like her husband), so the idea of flying is coming harder. Of course, being younger, Buck figured it out. Also Mareta's a little more adaptable than Thomas, which is why she was able to get up in the first place.
On the success side, it's a lot like learning to drive a car. Naturally, we can't run down the road at 40 or 60 mph on our own two feet, but my old driving instructor taught the class to think of the car as an extension of our bodies and to project our will into the motions of the car in the same way that we project our will into our own hands and feet to operate and control the car, while we look around and use the mirrors to stay aware of the car's position around other cars and obstacles.

Thanks for the comment. I hope you'll continue to enjoy the story.

Well, HG, wars can become popular especially when it comes in from the stars (or even Mars) ... 🎼

Shoutout to the Thunderchild!!

Shoutout to the Thunderchild!!

Indeed! Such an awesome song! So too, is the opening Overture. Of course, it's always been Forever Autumn that rips out my heart every time I hear it. Justin Hayward just bloody nails it with both of those!

Given the culture I imagined for them, I couldn't imagine anything else harder to hit the griffons with than Wayne's work. :trollestia:

Oh, fuck! :twilightoops: Hitting them War of the Worlds? :pinkiegasp: What's for the encore!? :rainbowwild:

Oh, ouch! :flutterrage: This is going DARK real fast!
Is Jackie going to go insane like Kaylee did? :rainbowderp:
An insane dragon trying to kill everything she meets is one thing. Something coming at you with the speed of the Flash?? That's a bad day for a lot of people! :twilightoops:

In less than two minutes, Thomas, Mareta, and Buck were all on the floor with Alfalfa sitting equal distant between them, while Lucius was rolling on the floor yipping in laughter.

De Lancie is too young to have worked with Sandy Duncan back then!

True, that would be Tony Randall (Muchec?) ... :fluttershysad:

De Lancie is too young to have worked with Sandy Duncan back then!

True, that would be Tony Randall (Muchec?) ... :fluttershysad:

Indeed. Of course it also implies that he at least managed to get up and change the channel before Tony's name appeared, but not before Sandy Duncan's showed up. ;)

Oh boy ... the Klingon-Griffon alliance will see many heading for - bloodwine ... too bad Jackie will have forgotten about how that battle turned out ...

Why do you have so many prologues and when the humans be in it

Yowch! Even as I know the Manes' arc is supposed to somewhat parallel the Batman/Dark Knight saga, that was a brutal end to the Thrushes! But a good setup for bringing Robin into the family. :pinkiecrazy:

I also love the interplays between Thomas and Celestia, Alfalfa and Lucius, and among the former Guards working for Thomas. :trollestia:

Still, I'd like the focus to eventually get back to Kaylee, Jackie, and whoever else got ported into Equestria.

10672537
I hope you're liking it so far. Since I'm dealing with several people scattered over the years & locations, I thought it more appropriate to have a prologue whenever someone (or something) is getting dumped in Equestria. So far, two humans have arrived, but without spilling too many spoilers, Chapter 28 (First Gate: Arrival) introduces all the humans who are scheduled to show up....
Also, I'm playing around a bit with Poser & DAZ Studio to create the images that appear in the chapters immediately following the prologues. Please let me know if you're having problems seeing them. BTW, the picture used for the title page showing the birb enjoying the eco-friendly waterless slicky-slide™ was the very first character I envisioned and started writing about for this. He'll be showing up sometime later.

10673834
Yeah, I didn't originally intend this last chapter to end where it did, but as I was going over the editing, I suddenly realized this spot would have a bigger impact than my initial idea :derpytongue2:--Bad Ryuu! That was just HARD CORE!! :flutterrage: Patience, my dear padawan. Just a little more on Thomas Mane's development before the spotlight swings back to the main characters (and bringing in a few more).

"Padawan", huh??:ajbemused: Okay, you're only getting a pass on that because you perfectly delivered such a horrible bad pun. :rainbowlaugh:

Bring on the Joker (and Harley) ...

Zucco only seemed mildly annoyed at the new modifications to his anatomy, as he calmly twisted about to drive the sword down toward Thomas. Fortunately, Thomas was able to roll out of the way in time and the sword tip was buried a hand depth into the dirt.

Wow! That shit is like the PCP of the pony world! Nothing short of feeding him into a woodchipper is going to stop him! :pinkiecrazy:
...or...perhaps his head popping like a zit.

You know, I'm starting to like Jack's minions far more than JackJoker. Too bad they all have to die. (Well, maybe not Wilhelm, since he got shot through the window on his way out :rainbowwild:) But at least we finally find out Jack's motivation for trying to kill the Manes when he was already aiming to get rich with the mushroom joke. He thought the Manes could only get rich through doing something equally nefarious.

10996981
And even a woodchipper might not enough for some of them...

You know, I'm starting to like Jack's minions far more than JackJoker.

Me, too. I've never been that big of a fan of the Joker, but I will try to do him & Harley proper. Still, there are a few more players to bring in & flesh out before I'm ready to move on from the current arc & back to some of the more interesting characters in the works.

10995187
Yep. & someone else neither of you two might be expecting ;)

I WILL try to keep to a better update schedule than I have been.

Also, I've gone through several of the earlier chapters and fixed a number of glaring grammar, spelling, and clarification issues. Hopefully, they will fix some of the downvoters' complaints. Absolutely, and too late, I realized I should've put the accompanying pictures IN their relevant Prologue chapters rather than the following chapters! :facehoof:

It still makes me giggle when I reread these. What a hell of a recruitment technique! :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

I like these changes! Good move putting pictures into the Prologues! :pinkiehappy:

"Buck!? What did you do!? Are you okay!?" Marta exclaimed, rushing over to hold him.

Um... I think you need a re-edit... :fluttershyouch:

D'OH!

Well, at least my fuckups are consistent! :facehoof:

"They had four versions of that crap on TV!?" Dmitri nearly yelled. "Who the fuck did they have to bribe to get four versions of 'My Little Pony' on the air!? And how much did they have to bribe them with!?"

An even bigger question, what were the Gen 2 & Gen 3 shows like!? :twilightoops:

Hmmm, a bleached out Swamp Thing??

11009933
Not quite, but you're on the right track.
BTW, there was an animated production in 2017 where the two we're talking about got to meet. Fred Tatasciore and Mark Hamill voiced them.

11010400
Ah ... Solomon Grundy then, better match ...

Early draft version:

"The story you about to see is true. The names have been changed to protect the guilty. The innocent can go fu—" the deadpan voice intoned.
>click<
Too intellectual, she thought, as she hit the remote.
"Lu-u-CI-I-I-I-ILLLE—!" her husband screamed.
>click<
Too funny.
"Fire Phasers!" the captain commanded.
>click<
*sigh*
"Oh! The pain! The pain!"
"Danger, Will Robinson!"
"Ah, this will work!" she happily muttered, getting ready to take a bite from her cake. "Just the right amount of 'stupid' to put me back into a coma."
"We interrupt this program to bring you COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG SHOW, starring COURAGE, THE COWARDLY DOG! Abandoned as a pup, he was found by Muriel, who lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, Eustace Bagge—!"
"Fwoaphfdapples!?" she exclaimed, spitting out the mouthful of cake.

:derpytongue2:
I recognize most of those shows. Perfect Dragnet intro. :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

So, Primary Timeline was merely delayed and a full-on Flashpoint averted? Cool.
Also, I like this version of Bullock far better than DC's official version. He & Gordon seem to have a good rapport. Too bad about Sgt. Fently. He was shaping up to be an intriguing character that I was looking forward to seeing more of him. He must have been wearing too much red tonight.

Nice bit of worldbuilding you're doing there. So many allusions to other shows and such in this story. :pinkiehappy:

11036911
Indeed, Courage was the first thing that came to mind when I was writing that interruption, so that "first draft" isn't far from the truth at all! :rainbowlaugh: And that Dragnet intro was what I thought it should be when I first saw those reruns as a kid in the mid 1960's. Plus, so many of my classmates back then thought that back then, too! :rainbowlaugh: Ditto with Celestia's feelings between Star Trek vs Lost In Space. As much as she liked Trek, she was wanting to get back to sleep. LIS literally does have just the right amount of stupid to put people into deep comas, which is a shame because Irwin Allen was capable of doing so much better, and he knew that show was crap!

TBH, I felt the same way about Fently, too. While purposefully doing an homage to Flashpoint, I had originally planned for Buck's parents and several of the team to be killed here for the intended impact for the reader. But unfortunately, the story writes itself--there's a certain Game Of Thrones-like Sword of Damocles hanging over everybody's head here. His death should remind everyone that NO ONE is safe here! :trixieshiftright:
Even more honestly, I hadn't planned to put Solomon Grundy into the story at all until I was writing the chapter where Decker first showed up. But it feels natural that he should be able to rejoin Joker & Harley at some point. We'll all have to see where this takes us--even I don't know now. Should be interesting. :twilightoops:

11037013
Thanks! Those allusions and homages really do add to the flavor. I like seeing them in other people's work here. And MLP, itself, does a lot of those, too. It kind of makes it feel like we're all a bit closer as a family with so many commonalities that go beyond just MLP.

I think I found an error with this...

Gordon reflected that their statements made a lot of sense, and they meshed with what he, himself, had witnessed. He recalled there had been some odd creature that vaguely looked like that kitsune, if one considered the distance, darkness, and chaos involved. But he didn't remember seeing any other pegasi in the air alongside the Princess, although the big white one she fought had acted very distracted by something besides her.

But from Nests of Ash, this contradicts his recollection:

"I agree, but we had to do something," Gordon said, sighing. "But somepony had to do something! That monster was about to slam down on you again after he buried you! And—I couldn't be sure, but it might have looked like there some other ponies up there, too? Something seemed to have distracted him from finishing you off."

Nicely done getting the team able to accomplish their goal with their talents despite their handicaps. And I like how Celestia unwittingly erred by using that phrase--especially after just got through admonishing the team. Gordon now knows she knows more than she was telling! I'm looking forward on how this will end up biting her in the ass!! :rainbowwild:

Holy shit! That last bit with Dandelion!? What a total surprise! What a backstory to her now!! :twilightoops:
Clever girl! :trollestia:

11037719
Damn! I thought I had gotten all of those errors! Good catch. Thanks! Like Kirk said in Voyage Home, "...one little mistake! :twilightoops:" Both for me and Celestia. :rainbowlaugh:

Glad you liked that last little bit. Kind of like Decker, she wasn't really planned until the last second when I was creating Matchbox's posthumous character building. We'll just have to see where that leads us, too.

Ah yes, JV, our cheetah / catwoman mix, looks like she's headed for Gotham ...

The description is way to specific. If you were going for a quick in and out where she saves ponies only to disappear, how would ponies be able to identify everything about her specially during a stressful situation like a mugging?

Wow, dude! When you write a sex scene, you don't fuck around! :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

I am concerned by what happened at the beginning of the chapter though. Mysterious figure is mysterious, and that seems like some pretty gruesome shit going on with the castaways, and evidently some time has passed since last we saw them. Last time, they were just waking up on the beach of that other planet. :twilightoops:

Also, liked the picture. So we finally find out who it was doing that long belly landing in the middle of a desert! :rainbowlaugh:

11061214
Thank you for the feedback. I worried that the description Thomas Mane gave could be too detailed as well, but there is precedence in the episodes "Testing, Testing, 1,2,3,", "MMMystery on the Friendship Express", "Princess Twilight Sparkle", and several others. In all of them, there was very little time for the principle character to pick up on so many high order details that were essential to solving their problems.

11061650
Comes from a period of working in an adult bookstore. I got to see both good and badly written porn, so I tried to use what I learned from them. Of course, that was before I was able to make use any of my more useful technical skills in my careers.

Glad you liked the picture. BTW, you might be able to actually see the mysterious figure if you look close enough at some of the other pictures in the story. :twistnerd:

Ah, yes, Mr J and Harly are ready to start having fun Joker style ...

Things are about to get... complicated. :twilightoops:

Ah Victor, still verbally battling Reed/Water (nice cutie marks for that quartet). Then there's Ollie Queen, Pony Stark (not quite ready for prime time) and Hoofthor (hmm, nothing immediate) ...

As for Jackie, don't forget that there is magic in this world, transformation magic is possible here for improving one's looks, though finding an expert could take a while ...

11246826

11101583
Oh, you have no idea! :trollestia:

I think I'm starting to get an idea. :rainbowderp:
A full-blown Amalgam Universe with many of the major players from DC & Marvel all together just now getting started with their origins, along with the build up to MLP's beginning! YIKES!! :twilightoops:
That's going to be quite a juggling act!

Can someone please tell me the reference in the buck main part. I know they are from super hero things and have a feeling that I know some of them but others I don't know or have a vague feeling of knowing which irritates me. Can someone please tell me who they are?

11272493
No problems. As Frazikar and Kevin Lee mentioned, they're a mixture of the Marvel and DC characters showing up together in the same scene. I'm not very good with ponifying the characters' names (as well as their alter egos) into the MLP world, but I did my best. I've seen where other authors have done a much better job than me.

The cast, so far:
Buck Mane/Graywing -- Bruce Wayne/Batman (DC)
Robin Thrush/Grayson -- Dick Grayson/Robin (DC)
Alfalfa Ponyworth -- Alfred Pennyworth (DC)
Lucius Sanbi no Kitsune -- Lucius Fox (DC) [believe me, ponifying him was a really tough one! :rainbowlaugh:]
Jarvis -- Jarvis (Marvel) [FYI, this is the still-living family butler of the Starks, whom Tony later designed his IA Jarvis from]
Pony Stark -- Tony Stark (Marvel)
Lipizzan Hoofthor -- Lex Luthor (DC)
Ollie Queen -- Oliver Queen (DC)
Doctor von Destiny -- Doctor Victor von Doom (Marvel)
Water Riwoche -- Reed Richards (Marvel)
Air Storm -- Susan Storm (Marvel)
Fire Storm -- Johnny Storm (Marvel)
Ben Ground -- Ben Grimm (Marvel)
Genevieve Tawleed -- Genevieve Teague (Smallville, although I'm not certain if she ever appeared in the regular DC comics)
Prince M'bayar of the Walkaloosas -- T'Challa of the Wakandans (Marvel) [mentioned, but not seen yet]

This point in the Marvel arc is slightly before Nov 1961 (the start of Marvel Comics with the Fantastic Four) where Richards is still trying to get his rocket ready for flight. (coincidentally, their first issue came out just a few months after I was born, so I've always had a special affection for the FF, and Marvel comic, in general)
The point in the DC arc is a bit off due to the "Flashpoint-like" event which extended Thomas & Martha's lives, but "Batman & Robin" now exists as it was meant to be (mostly) and are active... presumably so is "Green Arrow", but any activities he may have done haven't been revealed in the story.

Oh, and yes, Morgan Freeman is the speaking voice I envisioned for Lucius Kitsune, so just remember the contrast when he's having one of his laughing fits:

:pinkiehappy:

THIS is what you've been working on for so long!?? :rainbowderp:
gcdn.daz3d.com/gallery/image/1228675/1655561946/main.jpg
BWAH-HAHAHA!! Oh, you have GOT to make a story of THAT!!! :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

11276068
Like it? Almost 6months in the making what with trying to get my DAZ database fixed--and 2d9h to render.
Oh, and I've also made some default "hero shots" of Robin, Lucius, and the female griffon Gitaly mentioned in "Cat Scream Fever" that I'll get around to posting in a few.
Next on my DAZ agenda is getting more of those MLP characters I downloaded converted to posable figures to use in Blender & DAZ. Also, time to get back to the story, as well as working with you on Weirder. Sorry, but other matters just took a little longer to clear off my plate.

Cheers,
Ryuu

11281686
No problem. I can relate to RL cutting into the fun hobbies. I've been having a few matters to attend to, as well. At least things are finally starting to open up on the schedule.

Working on the next set of chapters, but wouldn't you know, I come across a major glitch in the last chapter--and that prompted me to go through and look for anything else I may have missed.
And fuck, if I don't find loads of them, too! :facehoof:
So, the fun part is "how to sensibly do the updates--!?" Okay, I think I've finally got that idea worked out.

Progress is being made on this, now!

11333765
?
I don't remember seeing any glitches in High Class Bits. What happened there, and all the others?

11335804
I had stated that Air Storm's cutie mark wasn't visible due to her gown. Then, something like a couple paragraphs later, I listed hers along with the other's cutie marks. :facehoof:
Just a bit of overlooked stupid editing on my part and not even all that funny, so not worth preserving like you sometimes say we should. All the other corrections were mostly just fixing minor grammar or awkward/unclear phrasing--although in the Daring Do chapter, I had (again) stupidly missed advancing the date by a day where the scene transitions (I guess you could make a time travel joke about that :rainbowlaugh:).
