Sequels1

T

This story is a sequel to My Final Pony Fantasy

It had been a while since the ponies' last adventure in another world. Soon, an invasion and a foalnapping change everything and prompts Twilight to return to the Chamber of Crystals, this time with Fluttershy, Spike and Princess Cadence in tow. Little do they realize that they would find themselves in the war between an evil empire and small rebel army.

This is one I'll definitely want to check out. Final Fantasy II is one of the three games I've played, other two being VI and VII. It is my third favorite of the them all, but still in the top section as I haven't had any interest in playing V, which is my fourth favorite based on my research. II is kind of simple compared to the others, though with a different leveling system, and has that "enchanted forest" kind of feel to it.

Also the Emperor is my second favorite villain, where Kefka, despite his popularity and being an evil clown (one of my favorite villain archetypes), is in third.

Thanks! Who's your all-time favorite?

10579345
Sephiroth, who btw is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC this month. (Cloud's already in it as one of the original characters)

Read the first chapter, pretty good so far and accurate description of the Emperor. I can't wait to see the ponies defeat him.

Thanks again for the fave!

I wasn't expecting for elements of another world to invade Equestria. The Emperor has already made things personal. I'm not surprised to see Cadence and Spike along, but I am somewhat surprised that four of the Mane 6 are sitting out. Then again it is a four-party system with the second game where members frequently tag out the fourth slot.

Don't worry. I plan on having the others go into the world of FF3.

Sounds cool to me. Fine to mix thinhs up now and then.

What a coincidence you come out with a new chapter so soon after I start my second playthrough.

No problem with the wait. it was noticeable, but I feel that the time and effort really went into this. All around I like the main interactions of the main trio with the MLP cast. It's also interesting how you worked in the leveling and keyword system. I also like how the reoccurring elements of Final Fantasy games are kind of leaving an impression, such as with the airships. The Empire also seems to be more of a predominant, darker, and more personal threat compared to the forces of Chaos from last time. That's probably why Chrysalis had to pick up the slack.

Yeah, FF2 was the start of the tradition of there always being a character named Cid, there wasn't one in the first.

True indeed. Speaking of which, who was your favorite Cid? And your least favorite?

I had a feeling that Guy would get along well with Fluttershy, though from what I remember things are going to be tough just up ahead. I noticed that Twilight used a fire spell just now. I have to wonder if that's something she picked up during her time here or if that's just something she could always do. I also have to wonder if introductions will be awkward talking with humans from every world onward.

Yes, things are gonna get tough as we go further. And it won't stop there.

10617354
yeah I don't want to spoil too much for anyone glancing this way, but I was particularly thinking that this will be the first time they'll have to cope with the deaths of party members.

I love the reference to Twilight's story of getting her cutie mark. I don't know why but she's so cute when she does that.

Also, Chrysalis was there with Garland/Chaos in the FF1 story? Why do I get the feeling I know who's going to appear alongside the Emperor? There's only one MLP villain who's as arrogant, power-hungry, and pure evil as him, and who died twice no less... well, I mean, the Storm King comes close, but the Emperor DID capture Crystal Ponies...

Of course I wonder if they'll try to backstab each other and take both worlds for themselves, knowing them?

One can only imagine if Pinkie Pie would have been literally minded at the mention of "balloons". But yes, plot is thickening and It's good to see more of the Crystal Empire. Though I can only wonder everyone's reactions on Josef's eventual fate as well as the identity of the Dark Knight mentioned here.

I didn't think Twilight was dead, nor do I think she will be, but I hope she recovers soon.

Yikes. I guess sometimes Twilighting can get so bad you need a Phoenix Down.

And the equestrians have to witness their very first party member death. Sadly won't be the last in the long run going into other stories.

10717710
You're absolutely right, my friend. It all started with Josef and it won't stop there.

And we've got our first Chocobo encounter. Fluttershy reacts exactly how you would expect. Welcome back. Looking forward to the next part and curious who's peaking in on Shining right now.

Next chapter... That'll be there the king of Fynn dies, sends Firion and his party to Deist to get a Wyvern, they fight Leila's pirates and she joins their party, then they go to Deist where the Wyvern was poisoned and has Firion place its egg in the Life Spring... I wonder what events will be changed "so everyone can somewhat relax"?

And of course I know exactly who the Emperor's prisoner is, and what happens after Deist.

Funny how soldiers hiding in a treasure chest almost seems mundane by Final Fantasy standards.

Actually just some ideas I have for the next chapter, since the destruction of the Dreadnought's pretty much a good thing for everyone. So everything will be find until the end and I'll pick up from there in the one after that.

10818855
Yeah. Then again, it's the classic monster-in-a-box trick that RPGs are very fond of.

10821515
I can only wonder how would that would turn out for more cinematic HD games like FF15 and the 7 remake.

Nice having a small break where everyone gets to bond. I can imagine Twilight and Cadance especially sympathize with Maria given Twilights bond with Shining. Never played FF2 in full, but I've played enough to have a good idea what's going on with Hilda.

10822487
Eeyup. They're in for a big surprise in the next chapter.

Yeah I was wondering about the infamous Lamia scene with Firion and how anyone would have reacted to that. Oh well. I can imagine that Spike would idolize anyone in the Dragoon class once he meets one. Dashie might also take an interest in future adventures, maybe even draw Wonderbolt comparisons. I also can imagine the party as a whole will remember certain names that come up in FF4 and 7. And yeah, I've seen the whole Phoenix Down debate growing up again and again. Personally I feel it brings back those "near death" than anything. If I recall correctly that should be the Behemoth fight, yes?

You mean in the next chapter? Yes. Also, the music that plays in the omitted scene is a rendition of a certain piece of classical music by Tchaikovsky. Can you guess what it is?

Feels like we're getting close to the midway point.

Ultima... The spell that Minwu dies for, which only turns out to be powerful if you've leveled up all your other magic really high. I wonder how the characters will react when they find out?

Also, so it was the Lamia Queen scene that was changed here.

So is the Lamia Queen scene the reason this game wasn't released outside of Japan for a while? Because that didn't stop some of the Corneo scenes in FF7. (But then FF2 was released for a few platforms in America after FF7)

10844078
That is possible... though another reason why is because the market outside of Japan focused more on the NES' successor, the Super NES. And since the first Final Fantasy game came to the US a year earlier, Square decided to translate FF4 and release over here and name it FF2. Then they skipped localizing FF5 and instead brought us a weird spin-off called Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, and then gave us FF6 which was then called FF3 here. Confusing, I know.

10844184
I remember hearing of them changing the titles of IV and VI in AVGN's Chronologically Confused years before I knew anything about any of the games other than Cloud kills Sephiroth.

Again, like it whenever the equestrians learn some Final Fantasy spells. Since I never finished FF2 I never learned about Paul personally and that there was an NPC rep for the thief class. The ponies will likely get a sense of deja vu for the Mysidia name when they get to FF4.

10848076
Oh, they will... Especially when they learn that it's also inhabited by mages.

10848076
You'll want to know where Paul is before entering the Emperor's Cyclone. That is your only window for him to show you his hidden stash of treasure he stole from the Empire, including the Blood Sword, which does major fractional damage of enemies' MAXIMUM HP and gives that HP to you, and can even kill the Emperor's final form in three hits! (Only catch is, it has reverse effect on undead, which thankfully doesn't include the Emperor's final form)

10849779
I think you may have given me an idea as soon as I reach the final battle.

More popular reoccurring monsters making their first appearance. Once again, I like how Final Fantasy has common themes that seem to sync up so well with MLP.

Minwu... well I've said it before so no need to say it again. (Why couldn't Ultima be more like it is in VI and VII? It's really powerful there)

Looking forward to next chapter... Of course I know that the Emperor will return from hell after they defeat him the first time. Just like Sombra, although Sombra had outside help with that while the Emperor somehow did it all on his own.

So we have our second party member death. That aside, nice moments with Cadence and Fluttershy stepping up. I can imagine everyone will be curious about a certain other Kain and if there's any connection going on when they get to FF4. Then again, we're going to be meeting a Cid every single time also. I'm assuming we are getting around to fighting the Emperor real soon.

Forget whether this was the part that had the Emperor's infamous death scream or not. Overall It's quite the revelation that he's ahead of the game hinting to more of an overarching plot. Its a shame that Twilight won't be able to take Ultima or those other spells with her, which would make future adventures way too easy.

Aw, Blood Sword gone?

And looks like Minwu's death was not in vain!
