It's nice to see Mr "Self Defense Is Morally Identical to Mass Murder" finally face some consequences for his actions. His sickening rationalizations made Dr. Atmosphere and Ms. Dash seem almost noble by comparison. They'd all cheerfully feed you into the meat grinder, but he was the only one who try to convince you that your desire to live was as indefensible as their drive to kill. The whole "Society's to blame" angle was just icing on the evil cake.
I would have preferred that those consequences come at the hands of the legal system, but with Celestia and Luna giving all of those employed at the Rainbow Factory a pass, it falls to vengeful ghosts instead.
So excited to see an official Pegasus Device sequel! I've seen so many "Rainbow Factory sequels" from others who clearly didn't read Pegasus Device, and I've been dying for some sense of what happens next!
In the Rainbow Factory.... where fears and horrors come true... In the Rainbow Factory, where not a soul gets through... In the Rainbow Factory, where failures pay their toll...
Throne, it's been frickin years since I've even read the two stories that preceded this! I had no idea this was even around! Welp, time to jump in!
A mighty machine built within the wake Of a long dead dream, little demon awake. The citizens sleep, never quite knowing when The device will reawaken, hungry again.
Welp just like the kids, I bet none of the factory workers are gonna make it through this alive at all. They might make it through it physically, but not mentally.
Sentiment hadn't changed in Cloudsdale. Earth ponies and Unicorns were horrified and had protested and petitioned and complained and then forgot the next time some world-ending event was narrowly averted by some saccharine act of friendship. But Pegasi, they didn't care. There was talk and play of change, of improving society. At the end of the day though, the flight tests still went on. Those who failed their tests were disowned by their parents, refused every job, ignored by guards and civilians alike. As part of the reparations, Dash and the Corporation had founded a foster system and orphanage for failures. There were no foster homes, though, despite them desperately advertising for volunteers. There were, however, orphanages--filling up fast, beyond their limit of capacity--of the barest minimum quality of life. Well, Dash had a plan, and the best part of it was that the orphanages were not regulated like the factory was. The quality of life was ensured in random inspections.
I'm gonna guess that after the truth came out. Unicorns and Earth Ponies lost their respect for their winged neighbors. I don't think "Rainbow Dash" can go back to pony'ville without being attacked by her former friends lol.
