Summary: Still, though, if all a reader is looking for is a grab-bag of sweets and not a rich gourmet cake, then this story is a fancy box of chocolates: the sense of craft is apparent, but the flavors of each piece rarely last beyond that initial bite. Sometimes, that's all one wants, but a writer should always shoot for something better. Perhaps a truffle?

Celestia, you sneaky devil.
It was still an intelligent being, and the alien had purposely fed it into a crusher even if he didn't know it was alive and could feel pain. Murder is murder, and the balance of magic requires that he be punished for it, or so said the Goddess of the Sun after it was all over.
Okay, time to raise an almighty howl. MURDER is the deliberate and knowing killing of another person. Calling anything else "murder", especially an accidental death, is howling bullshit and is in itself evil, because it diminishes the definition to an abstraction.
I found this chapter lackluster.
I would have love to see more.
