The sky was a brilliant blue and devoid of any sign of the Void that plagued so many distant worlds. White, fluffy clouds drifted lazily across the sun, while the world’s dual moons rested close to each other, currently as crescents. The silver moon shone down on the world with a calm peace, while the red moon seemed malevolent—if distant and unimportant at the given moment.
Somewhere in this world, there was a deep, dark forest filled with all sorts of nasty creatures. Some unholy mutants of flesh and magic that had no right existing, while others were the sort of gigantic monsters that were completely natural. However, all of these nasty entities were relatively far from a small clearing in the midst of the wood.
In the center of this clearing, a shadowy woman lay, unconscious, her pink hat sitting a short distance to the side. Her hair was a disheveled mess filled with twigs and leaves and dirt, but for some reason she was smiling in her uncomfortable position.
Right next to her, embedded in the ground, was a heart-shaped stone.
With a groan, Vivian sat up and yawned, feeling well-rested and ready to take on the day.
Then she realized she had no idea where she was.
Hmm... a strange place indeed. Two moons, huh? And a red one at that... There's an obvious guess to be made here... but obvious guesses are for suckers. Time to put on my big brain hat. Two moons... Luna, Luna 2, the Russian spacecraft. What game has Russian spacecraft in it? Tetris. Therefore, this is the world of Tetris. QED, my logic is flawless.
I would have said Krynn from the Dragonlance book series as it has 3 moons with 1 of the 3 visible only to wizards of "evil" alignment, but the red moon is not described as malevolent or anything similar.
Maybe a FF game?
Familiar of zero?
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I caught up again. Well this has been a nice 10ish chapter binge-read.
Mmmm, Warhammer Fantasy?
One red and one silver moon in a world with magic monsters...
Is this Nirn from the Elder Scrolls series?
Just as the Underwhere ended up being behind the last door in Super Paper Mario I imagine this world must be behind the last door as well. Or at least part of it. It must be connected to Final Fantasy somehow given that you have Gilgamesh running around and we haven't visited the world of Final Fantasy yet. I know next to nothing about Final Fantasy so I couldn't even hazard a guess as to what game or where they could have ended up in.
I see though they've been separated from each other just as the heroes were separated in the Underwhere in Super Paper Mario.
And now I'm caught up again. Looking forward to the next installment. Keep up the great work.
We know there has to be a Final Fantasy world involved somewhere; I suppose this is it. Though I admit, I considered Alternia for far longer than I should’ve. I blame the earlier spirograph.
Still, seeing Nastasia cry… Truly disquieting moment. Well done there.
