So, basically, Twilight makes an offhand remark about 'beings from beyond our world' and 'wanting to study them'. Discord just so happens to be nearby. He decides to be a GenerousTM friend and grant Twilight's wish. The only problem is, I was the one that he grabbed. In an attempt to make me feel better, Discord made my own fictional characters come to life. Now, I'm in Equestria, I'm a spiteful and sassy girl, I need to take care of my four OC's, and I have a lot of things to say. Spoilers: Not all of those things are compliant with Friendship and/or canon. Joke Fic.
This was originally supposed to be only me, but it was a idea that kept going and it ran away. So, now I have my OC children with me in Equestria, everyone will have a small fit, and shenanigans will ensue. Let me know what you think of my children and of this story! Edit: I changed the rating to 'Teen' due to some possibly unsettling content in Chapter Three. It's not described in great detail, merely a telling of a past incident that has bad memories attached to it. Just to be safe, you know?

Shadowy wings are exactly what they are described as. Wings made of shadows, with no physical form. They are like this due to her distress. In a normal state of mind, they would be solid. Think bird wings sprouting from around her shoulder blades on her back, wrapping around her sides and to her front. She's curled up with her knees to her chest, so it was fitting to describe the wings like a blanket.
And no, she didn't notice she changed. Aside from shifting in discomfort from the awkward position in the pegasus body and the relief that came from being returned to her original position, she wasn't actively responding to those changes. She was asleep at that time, so all her responses were subconscious and she was unaware she even moved from where she fell asleep.

The gender-neutral feeling you get from the name might be due to the fact that I took 'moonstone' and deleted 'ston', creating 'Moone'. I literally did this, because I think moonstones are beautiful and I wanted to base a name on them. I also did this with all my other OC names, except in a more complicated way. She only recognized him due to a sixth sense, like when we can tell that there's someone staring at/watching us or there's someone/something close to us, except magnified. Like when you look at a cat and then all of a sudden they turn to look at you in the eye? That right there.
This takes place after Moone explains to Twilight why she called her "Miss Sparkle". Spike gets Twilight tea in the next sentence and is never heard from again.
For the sake of clarity, let's assume he either A) went to get a snack or B) went to take a nap.
They did thank him, and the scolding was due to the fact that Moone was more than a little untrusting when she first woke up.
Because, Twilight wanted Discord to stay the night in case Moone needed to be sent back in the morning,
plot convenience, Fluttershy is his room mate and wanted to keep an eye on him, and Applejack and Rarity needed to get back home/didn't want to impose on Twilight's hospitality respectively. They were invited, they just politely refused.I hope this answers your questions!

Well, the exact time frame doesn't matter, just that it's around the mentioned episodes (Season Five). This fic is mostly incidents involving me and my children, with a few big plot points here and there. It's intended to be a slice of life, and I don't think I'm going to make it into a full-fledged AU. So even if I decided to stick an exact timeframe onto this, it would be thrown out of whack really quickly.

Figure of speech. She feels old because that is what the school fillies or what someone much younger than her would call her, 'Miss Sparkle' or 'Miss Twilight'. I thought it was an appropriate response. In canon, around Season Five I believe the Mane Six are in their twenties (correct me if I'm wrong), and Moone is fifteen, so that is not a big age gap. It just makes poor Twi feel weird....

How does her wings collecting shadows hide them?

She dispels them first, and they ‘disappear’ from existence. The shadows may be seen zipping to the nooks and crannies containing deep shadows, but not always. Then, once Twilight has seen that the wings are gone, she goes around to the corners of the room and dips her hands into the natural shadows. The dense ones that make up her wings crawl up her arms and onto her back, reforming her wings from the base at her back all the way to the tip of the last feather. I imagine it as a really cool thing to watch, and I might animate it later if I have the time.
