This story is a sequel to A Place in Equestria
Queen Chrysalis and the evil Changelings are back, and are hungry once again! When they kidnap Thomas, the Changeling queen has devised a evil plot for use on the sweet child as her way to extract her revenge on Princess Celestia, Luna, Cadance and Shining Armor, and the Main Six, and then conquer all of Equestria.
After the Mane 6, Starlight, Trixie and Spike are chosen to go rescue their precious little Thomas by being led by a reformed changeling named Thorax, they vow to bring him back before all of Equestria is doomed.
(This is my alternate take on the episodes “The Times They Are A Changeling” and Parts 1 and 2 of “To Where and Back Again”)

When Chrysalis drained all the love out of Thomas, I think it was almost similar to the 'Dementor's Kiss'
