Dating a Wrestlemaniac
Dusk Shine had in his younger years felt alienated for being considered a nerdy dork who had been the smartest in his classes and even school. His parents, his older brother Shining Armor and his old babysitter Cadance kept assuring that there was nothing wrong with being smart and Shining told him that he was considered a dork in school as well (with Shining’s wife Cadance saying that he still was to the laughter of everyone but Shining). He still felt alone with only his family and his dog Spike to count on.
He ended up transferring to Canterlot High School and found the students there much friendlier, there was a group of six friends in his class who had welcomed him in with open arms. There was this extremely pretty girl called Sunset Shimmer who was the second smartest in his class next to him and was quite friendly. However all the other students seemed weary of her and it was explained to her that until recently, Sunset had been the mean bully until a prank that went out of control alienated her from the rest of the school.
The rest of the group took her in and helped her to be friendlier and while Dusk was not sure to think of that (due to his own experiences with bully) but he was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. However Sunset proved herself a changed girl and even won the other students over in time. Dusk and Sunset grew especially close with their friends and the other students noticing.
When they were at the senior prom, to their shock they both won Prom King and Queen as write in candidates. Dusk had to be practically dragged to the stage and was taken aback when Sunset bashfully admitted her feelings to him and he surprised him by blurting out his own feelings to her. Egged on by their friends they ended up sharing their first kiss to mutterings from the students and some staff about it being time.
Dusk’s family were extremely happy and supportive when they found out that Dusk was dating Sunset, though Shining not so much due to what he had heard about Sunset’s past and had warned her about messing with his little bro or getting him into trouble to Dusk’s embarrassment.
Years had passed and now Dusk was now working as a researcher at Nebula Labs, owned by his scientific idol Rosette Nebula. Sunset however was now working as a professional wrestler at the Canterlot Wrestling League, she had been training at various gyms and asked Dusk to come with her to train but it seemed that she just wanted to see him red from seeing his girlfriend in her training attire.
Dusk even helped Sunset when she decided that she had wanted her gimmick to be of a mean high school bully, she was not proud of her past but she thought that it could be fun using that as her onscreen persona.
Dusk would support her by watching her on CWL on the TV, she showed herself to be quite brutal in her wrestling and liked to humiliate her opponents with taunts and stunts (like locking them out of their changing rooms or disguised at a makeup artist to make them look hideous) plus with her wrestling finisher being the stinkface. Plus with special match stipulations like Hair Vs Hair matches, dragging opponents into the chair to lock them in place and shave their heads (Sunset and Dusk had a good laugh about if Sunset lost and would try out using hats or wigs).
Sometimes at work Dusk would have co-workers talking to him about his wrestler girlfriend on TV.
Dusk and Sunset would at the home that they share together, watch the recordings on the couch and Dusk would think of the mean vicious Sunset on the TV and the warm kind Sunset that would snuggle herself into his arms. Plus her joking about how attracted he is to the mean girl persona and he couldn’t refute but kept telling her that he loved and preferred the real Sunset (with Sunset wondering why her dork of a boyfriend thought that she needed to be assured).
Plus Sunset herself had to keep assuring Dusk that she was fine when it looked like she got seriously hurt and especially when fighting in matches like hardcore or steel cage matches, especially when she donned the proverbial crimson mask.
Sunset found it adorable that her dork boyfriend was being protective of her the wrestler.
After seeing Sunset perform the stinkface on the TV, Sunset would begin playing with him by asking how he would love to experience it. After Sunset’s match was done she then crawled into his lap and asked sultry “so you think that I need to be punished and you give me a spank? Maybe after seeing others kiss my backside, you want to do it again....”
Sunset giggled as Dusk spluttered while his cheeks were red, she then got herself up and they shared a kiss. “You got your ticket ready for tomorrow night?” Sunset asked and Dusk nodded, she had gotten him a front row ticket for the big CWL Pay per View show called Ruthless Aggression and she wanted to do something with him for the show which he had accepted. He was nervous but Sunset told him that it would be alright.
The next night came and Dusk wearing a CWL licensed Sunset shirt was a bit overwhelmed at the big packed wrestling arena, he had gone to concerts before with his friends but this seemed different. He ended up getting into it, was enjoying himself and gotten ready when it was time for Sunset’s match.
Sunset’s opponent Mare-Do-Well had entered first and then came time for Sunset’s entrance, the lights went out and there was a spotlight shown at the top of the ramp.
The music played and Sunset entered giving a smug and confident demeanour as he was wearing her orange wrestling top and shorts, black biker’s jacket which Dusk had bought for her as a gift, purple knee pads, purple wrist bands and long black boots. The crowd was booing heavily but Dusk got annoyed by the fans that were cheering with hearts in their eyes for her. She strutted down the ramp blowing kisses mockingly and reached the ring where she stopped and kissed her hand and pointed to her rear.
She then took off her jacket and faced her opponent as the referee rang the bell to start the match. Sunset and Mare-Do-Well both looked quite well with their fighting tactics but Sunset managed to win after some vicious power moves followed by a pin. Sunset looked smug as she was declared the winner and there were boos and jeers. She then got a microphone “you can boo all you want but I know that you all know that I am the best around here and well soon be the Womens Champ. Try and hide it but you know that I am the woman you want to be or want to be with and I see some of you fans are not even trying to hide it.”
She then walked out and with the mic went to the barrier where Dusk was sitting in the front row, with a smirk Sunset poked her head towards him with her hands on the barrier. Dusk played the row as a surprised fan especially since this felt weird, she then spoke into the mic “This dork has the good sense to not hide and how about I give him something to brag about to his friends.” Dusk prepared himself as Sunset took him by the collar of his shirt and planted a minute long kiss on him to sounds of surprise and jealous from the crowd.
Sunset kept her smirk as she let him go and took her jacket to go back up the ramp as Dusk settled himself and enjoyed the rest of the show.
After the show he went to the back parking lot for the employees and Sunset embraced him warmly as she met up with them, Sunset began telling him that he knows that their friends and his family will be talking about it. Dusk knew that his family would tease him about this but would get mostly support from their five friends. He was even sure that Rarity had already designed his suit and Sunset’s dress for their wedding in advance when Dusk was not certain that he was ready for that stage yet.
On the car ride back to their home Sunset began talking about if he could help her train again and she can show him her wrestling moves and hoped that he wouldn’t get too hurt. They got home and shared a kiss again when they entered their home. Whether it was her arrogant on screen persona or the warm true self, kissing Sunset was always amazing to Dusk.

Very little I can say other than excellent job on this one-shot. Admittedly, it's been years since I've been into professional wrestling, but I have to admit this was a really sweet story with some great reflection and characterization.
Certainly looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.
