A human finds themselves as a voice within Pinkie's mind, only she's a young filly still on the rock farm. Aching for home, but worried what others might think, this new 'Mena' must maneuver life in Equestria. As much a life they can anyways.
A meteor impacts the nation of Equestria, Planet Equis. Tranquility is quickly snuffed out when a poison begins to spread violently. The Princesses cannot combat this unknown threat, as no knowledge of it exists. Help comes from an unexpected source.
The chronicle of Twilight's journey through a land under siege by darkness and corruption. Her only protection from the undead and yet darker forces lie with her new companions and a champion of light sworn to defend her. But will it be enough?
Ironshoes is a story about pirates in Equestria. Though it's not about pirates. It's more about the mind, the strength of one's character, and temptation.
I'm going to read this...I don't see enough Lovecraftian MLP stuff. Being a huge fan of both universes, I look forward to seeing what you've put together. Constructive criticism to come!
Though I don't understand what's so Lovecraftian about this, I did thoroughly enjoy it. The connection between "Heavyboots" and Ironshoes was clever, and the realization of what was happening (at least, what I think was happening) dawned on me just before the reveal.
While it is not similar to Lovecraft's more famous works, it does bear striking similarity to some of his earlier stories. And that doesn't even show itself evident until the later half of the story. It is the supernatural transformation of a character into a cruel distortion of his aspirations.
1700636 Indeed. Many people, myself included, makes the mistake of thinking only of tentacles and space monsters when they talk about Lovecraft, forgetting that he also experimented with other types of horror.
I can't help it, I like tentacles and space monsters very much
But I really liked the story I think you did an amazing job working with one of the less-remembered styles and themes of Lovecraft. Also, the flow is perfect and the battle scenes are very exciting to read. Very well done.

Great! Thank you.
EDIT: I should note that this takes place in Equestria and does not involve Lovecraft's constructed universe.
1197112 I figured. Should still be a good read. Lots of old gods-style mystery and horror going on. ;)
