The Most Wonderful of the Parties

Twilight and Spike slept peacefully in their bed. While Twilight slept straight, Spike slept on the side. Twilight’s bed was brown and the blanket was dark blue with a moon and star design, and Spike’s, or rather, the basket was light brown and the blanket white. The sun entered the room, reached the Twilight bed. Twilight soon woke up with a smile on her face. Today was a very special day. No, it wasn’t a celebration in Ponyville like Nightmare Night or the Summer Sun Celebration, but it was something much more special than that.

“Spike, wake up!” said Twilight, all excited, nudging Spike with her snout.

Spike in response, moved in the bed, but did not open his eyes. “Not now, Twilight ... It’s still early ...”

“But Spike, today is a special day!” said Twilight, still smiling.

Spike opened and scratched his eyes, but not so much, because he was still sleepy. “What’s so special today, Twilight?”

“Don’t you know what day it is, Spike?”

Spike thought for a few seconds, before replying, “No, what day is it today?”

“What else would it be today? Today is the birthday of somepony very close to me,” Twilight replied cheerfully. “Do you know who I’m talking about?”

Spike thought again. Was today somepony’s birthday very close to Twilight? But who was this next one that Twilight was talking about?

“Is it one of your friends?” Spike tried to guess who the birthday pony was.

“No, Spike,” Twilight shook her head. “Try again.”

Spike soon smiled at the thought. “So does that mean today is my birthday?”

“No, Spike. Your birthday was two months ago,” Twilight replied.

“Ah! It’s true. I forgot,” said Spike, now smiling nervously and looking to the side with his right paw behind his head.

Twilight blew out a breath as her ears went down. “You don’t know who’s having a birthday today, do you?”

Spike looked at Twilight again. “No. Who has a birthday today?”

“Princess Luna, Spike,” Twilight replied. “She is going to come to Ponyville to celebrate her birthday next to me.”

“And are you going to organize a birthday party for her?” asked Spike, to be sure.

“Yes, but I never planned a party before,” Twilight replied, now sad and ears down while looking to the right. “I’m afraid the party won’t be perfect because I have never done this before.”

“Why don’t you ask your friends for help? Who knows Pinkie? She is the best party organizer in Ponyville.” Spike suggested.

“It’s a good idea, Spike!” said Twilight, now smiling.

“Are you going to go now and ask for Pinkie’s help to organize the party?” Spike wanted to know.

“Not yet, I need to do something before I go to Sugarcube Corner,” Twilight replied.

“What are you going to do?” asked Spike curiously.

“Why, and what else would it be? Organize a to-do list of what it should have at Luna’s party!” Twilight declared happily, clapping her hooves. She then ran to the desk that already had parchments, inks and quill, dipped the quill in the ink and started writing the to-do list. While she was doing this, Spike went back to sleep, knowing it was a to-do list and not a letter to Princess Celestia or Luna.

When she finished writing her to-do list, she read what she wrote before going down the stairs to the first floor and leaving the library. Since the sun had risen over the horizon an hour ago, the ponies had already left their homes; the grown ponies were going to work, to see their friends or else to go to a store, while the foals went to school.

Although Twilight intends to organize Luna’s party with Pinkie when she arrives at Sugarcube Corner, she intended to eat something before starting with preparations, as her stomach was even starting to snore. She opened the Sugarcube Corner door and sat down at the table, waiting to be answered.

“Good morning, Twilight!”

Twilight’s ears cheered when she heard a happy voice, she looked where she heard the voice and saw Pinkie hopping up to her with a smile. Twilight smiled and greeted back, “Good morning, Pinkie.”

“Would you like to eat something?” asked Pinkie.

“Yes, I would like a strawberry cupcake, please.” Twilight asked politely.

“Okie dokie lokie!” Pinkie turned and skipped to the kitchen as Twilight looked at her.

When she got out of her sight, Twilight put her hooves on her cheek while smiling. Her thoughts were on Luna, she couldn’t help blushing at the thought of the princess’s cheerful expression when she saw that she organized a birthday party for her with the help of Pinkie.

“Here’s your cupcake, Twilight,” said Pinkie, placing a plate of chocolate cupcake and strawberry on the table.

Twilight soon left her thoughts, removed her hooves from the cheeks when she heard Pinkie’s voice and looked at the cupcake on the table before looking at the pink mare. “Thank you, Pinkie,” she levitated the strawberry cupcake with pink magic and took a small bite.

“You’re welcome, Twilight.” Pinkie sat on the right side, picked up the chocolate cupcake and started to eat.

While Twilight ate, she put the hooves back on her cheek and thought about Luna and the party. Pinkie obviously noticed the smile in Twilight, and can’t help but feel happy that her friend was happy, even though she was eating now.

After they finished eating, Pinkie picked up the two dishes from the table and carried them into the kitchen. Twilight, seeing this, got up and went over to Pinkie to the kitchen to ask for her help.

“Pinkie.”

Pinkie was washing the dishes with a sponge while tap water ran down the sink, but she stopped what she was doing when she heard Twilight’s voice and looked at her. “Yes, Twilight?”

“When you finish washing the dishes, could you help me with something?” Twilight asked.

“Of course, Twilight! But what do you need help with?” asked Pinkie, now curious.

“I’ll tell you as soon as you’re done washing the dish.”

As soon as Pinkie finished washing the dish, she turned off the tap, dried both dishes with a kitchen towel and put them in a light green shelf where it had dishes and cups. Pinkie approached Twilight all bouncing.

“So, Twily, what do you need my help with?” asked Pinkie.

“So, Pinkie, today is somepony’s birthday.” Twilight started.

Pinkie let out a big breath and smiled. “Is it somepony I know?”

“Yes, and it’s somepony very close to me and we see each other very often,” said Twilight as she looked to the left and blushed pink just thinking about Luna.

Pinkie started to think. Who was very close to Twilight and was having a birthday today? Spike was very close to Twilight, but he already had his birthday; there was also Princess Celestia who was the mentor of Twilight and the two are very close, but they do not see each other often because of the royal duties that the princess has in Canterlot. Pinkie immediately blew out a surprised breath. Could be ...

“Is it Princess Luna?” asked Pinkie.

“Y-yes, Pinkie,” Twilight replied, still flushed, “and I need your help to organize her birthday party.”

“Don’t worry, Twilight! I will help you prepare the best party for your marefriend!” said Pinkie as she gave Twilight a hug. Twilight can’t help but smile at Pinkie’s words.

Upon leaving the hug, Pinkie asked, “So, Twilight, how do you want the party to be for her?”

“I made a list of everything it’ll have at the party to make it perfect,” said Twilight, showing Pinkie the rolled scroll.

Pinkie laughed happily. “Well, let’s get started then.”

Twilight soon opened the scroll. Pinkie started to jump in the place excitedly to organize the party.

“The first item on the list is the guests,” said Twilight, looking at the list.

“Who would you like to invite?” asked Pinkie.

“I was thinking about you, our friends, Spike and Princess Celestia,” Twilight replied, now looking at Pinkie.

“Okie dokie lokie! I will provide the Pinkie Pie-style invitations!”

“The next one is the party location.” Twilight read.

“I already know! I already know! The party could be at Canterlot Castle!”

Twilight looked at Pinkie a little uncertainly. “Canterlot Castle? Pinkie, Luna told me that she is going to come to Ponyville to celebrate her birthday.”

“But couldn’t you tell Princess Luna to celebrate her birthday at the castle?” Pinkie suggested with a raised hoof.

“I’m sorry, Pinkie, but she must be asleep by now. I don’t want to wake her up,” Twilight replied.

“Okie dokie lokie! A party is still a party, even if it’s not where the birthday pony lives,” said Pinkie. “What location would you like the party to be at then?”

“I was thinking about being in the library and at night. Since normally, Luna visits me at this time of the day.”

“It’s a good point!” Pinkie agreed with the Twilight argument.

“I think so, too,” Twilight looked back at the list. “Next is music, but this one, I already have in mind for how music will play at the party.”

“Are you going to invite Vinly to play music at the party?” Pinkie tried to guess.

“No, the song will be played on the phonograph,” the purple unicorn replied before looking back at the list. “The next item is games.”

“Do you already have mind what games do you want to have at the party, Twilight?” asked Pinkie.

Twilight looked at Pinkie and replied, “I was thinking about the game being to put the tail on the pony. I’m sure that Luna will like this game.”

“I think so, too, Twi.” Pinkie agreed.

“The antepenultimate item is the decoration,” Twilight read.

“I know! I know! How about decoration with balloons and a big handkerchief written: Happy birthday, Luna?” Pinkie suggested excitedly.

“I think it’s a good idea,” the purple unicorn couldn’t help but smile and think that Luna would love the party. “Now, the last item: food and drink,” she said, now again with her eyes on the parchment.

“Do you already have in mind what the cake will taste like and what will the drinks be?”

“The cake could be chocolate, and drink could have punch, soda and water,” Twilight replied, now looking at Pinkie.

“I will start making the cake and cupcakes right now! And then, I will organize the games, decorate the library, and then deliver the invitations!” said Pinkie.

Twilight couldn’t help but smile at what Pinkie said to her while putting the scroll away. She couldn’t wait the time of the moon rising on the horizon today. But even so, it seemed like a lot of work for Pinkie, even if Pinkie worked around here.

“Would you like me to help you, Pinkie?” Twilight offered Pinkie her help.

“Of course, Twilight. You are ready?” asked Pinkie.

“Yes, I am,” said Twilight, now in a determined tone and smile.

Luna slept peacefully in her bed. The blanket was dark blue with a light blue star design and the bed was shaped like a moon. The princess soon opened her eyes, raised her head from the pillow, stretched before getting out of bed and going to the balcony to raise the moon. Today, she woke up in a good mood, actually, since she and Twilight started dating, Luna started to wake up more in a good mood than a bad mood, since Twilight was somepony very close to her. But today, she wasn’t in a good mood just because of that; but because it was a special day for the Princess of the Night: it was her birthday and she intended to celebrate with Twilight beside her at the Ponyville library.

The moon began to appear on the horizon until it reached the top of the sky, stars and constellations were soon added. Luna watched her work with a smile before spreading her wings and flying across the starry sky. She was soon lost in thought. She couldn’t wait to spend her birthday with the mare she liked most in the world. Had Twilight planned something special for her? Whether she planned it or not, she hoped she could spend that night of her birthday with Twilight.

She landed in the library, closed her wings and knocked on the door with a hoof to signal her arrival. “Twilight, I came to celebrate my birthday with you.”

“That’s great! Come on in,” said Twilight from the other side of the door.

Luna opened the door and entered, but when she entered, she noticed that everything was dark. This confused the princess. Why did Twilight turn off the lights of the library?

Suddenly, the lights came on. Twilight, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rainbow, Applejack, Rarity, Spike and Princess Celestia looked at Luna as they smiled and said in unison, “Surprise!!”

Luna couldn’t help feeling surprised and happy with what she was seeing with her turquoise eyes. The room was decorated with balloons, there was food and drink on the tables, a phonograph, games and a handkerchief hanging that was written “Happy birthday, Luna!”

“A birthday party? For me?” asked the dark blue alicorn.

“Yes, Luna. Pinkie and I organized everything,” Twilight replied. “What did you think?”

Luna looked at Twilight without taking the smile off her face. “It’s beautiful. Thank you love. This is one of the most wonderful of the surprises.”

Twilight looked to the side while blushing at the compliment. “You’re welcome, Luna.”

Applejack went over to the phonograph and turned it on; lively music started playing. Each went to do one thing: Fluttershy and Spike decided to dance to the rhythm of the music, Pinkie and Celestia went to eat a piece of chocolate cake, Rarity went to drink punch, Applejack, Rainbow, Twilight and Luna went to play the game of putting the tail in the pony.

Luna saw that on the wall there was a drawing of a pony without a tail and that confused her. “Why is there a drawing on the wall of a pony without a tail?”

Twilight looked to Luna to explain. “This is the game of putting the tail in the pony. You have to try to put the tail on the pony while you are blindfolded.”

Luna looked at Twilight with an understanding smile. This game seems easy.

“Your turn, Ajay,” said Rainbow, handing the blindfold and tail to Applejack.

Applejack tied the blindfold over her eyes and then caught the tail with her mouth. Rainbow spun Applejack until she stopped and watched Applejack approach the paper taped to the wall. The orange mare tried to guess where the pony’s ass was. When she was sure where it was, she stuck the tail. She took off the blindfold to see if she had managed to put the tail on the pony, but she did not, she had put the tail a little on top of the pony’s ass. Applejack was not sad that she did not succeed, since winning in a game was not something that mattered to her. Applejack took the tail off the paper and approached Twilight and Luna.

“Which of you two would like to be next?” asked Applejack.

“I believe Luna deserves to be next,” Twilight replied with a smile.

Luna looked at Twilight in surprise. “Me? Really, love?”

Twilight looked at Luna, still smiling. “Sure, Luna. After all, you are the birthday girl.”

Luna smiled at the words of Twilight, and can’t help but agree. She blindfold tied her in her eyes and took the tail. Applejack spun Luna until she stopped her. Luna started to walk, but she was walking on her back. Twilight, noticing this, decided to warn her.

“Luna, stop!” said Twilight with a raised front hoof.

Luna stopped walking when she heard Twilight’s voice. “What is it, Twilight? Am I getting close to the pony drawing without a tail?”

“No, you’re distancing yourself,” Twilight replied.

Luna then turned and started walking until she believed that the pony was drawing. When she was sure it was the place where she should put the tail, she put it and took out the blindfold to see if she made it. But unfortunately, just like Applejack, she was unable to put the tail in the right place, only that she had put it a little far to the left of the ass. She approached Twilight and handed her the tail and the blindfold.

“Your turn, Twilight,” said the dark blue alicorn.

Twilight tied the blindfold over her eyes and took the tail. Applejack spun Twilight, until she stopped, but she was on back. But unlike the princess who walked on her back before turning and going to the hanging paper, she turned around and went to the drawing. Twilight soon stopped in front of the drawing and tried to recall the drawing where the pony’s ass was. Lucky that as she always attended Pinkie’s parties, it always had this game and as she always played, she even remembered a little of the details of the pony designed by Pinkie. She started to move the tail down, then to the left and put it in the drawing. With a smile on her face, she took off the blindfold to see if she did it, and for the happiness of Twilight, she did it! Luna couldn’t help feeling surprised, she didn’t imagine that Twilight would be able to put the tail on the pony being blind.

Twilight and Luna were playing the ponytail game for a few minutes with Rainbow and Applejack, until they decided to do something else while Applejack and Rainbow stayed in the game to continue competing with each other. They stopped at the table and saw that it was only Pinkie there, who was now eating a lemon cupcake. Twilight went to the cake and cut a piece of cake for her and Luna. They both tasted the cake at the same time, and Luna couldn’t help but agree that the cake was good and tasty. Pinkie really cook well, especially in the icing on the cake.

“Did you like the cake, Princess?”

Luna looked to the right and saw Pinkie looking at her with a smile, waiting for an answer. “Yes, Pinkie. You make well the cake, especially the icing.”

“Thank you, Princess, but I didn’t do it alone. Twilight helped me with the cake,” said Pinkie.

Luna looked at Twilight with a smile. She knew that Twilight wanted her birthday party to be perfect, but she didn’t think the purple unicorn would want to help Pinkie make the cake. Twilight smile back when she noticed that Luna was looking at her.

After about five minutes, they finished eating the piece of cake from her plates and decided to drink something. Twilight decided to drink punch while Luna decided to drink soda. Luna couldn’t help, but agree that she was having fun at her birthday party.

A few hours passed, and the party was about to end. Luna wanted to do one last thing before having to return to Canterlot with Celestia. She approached the phonograph, put on classical music to play and approached Twilight to offer her hoof in a dance.

“Twilight, would thou like to dance a waltz with us?” asked Luna with a smile.

Twilight smiled in return and placed her hoof on Luna’s while saying, “Yes, I would like to.”

Luna and Twilight stood on two hooves and put the hooves on their shoulders; Luna put her right hoof on her left shoulder while Twilight put her left hoof on her right shoulder at the princess’s shoulders and start dancing to the music. The six mares and the dragon soon smile when they saw the two dance together. As soon as the song was over, Twilight’s friends and assistant and Luna’s sister applauded at the dance of the two while Luna and Twilight looked at each other with smiles before their heads slowly approached, their lips touched and began to kiss sweetly and lovingly.

When they left the kiss, they broke free, went back to being under four hooves and Luna asked to Twilight, “What did you think?”

“From the dance or the kiss?” asked Twilight, confused by Luna’s question.

“Of both,” Luna replied.

“I liked it,” Twilight replied, now with a smile.

“I knew you would like it,” said Luna with a smile.

“And you?”

“Me too.”

“And what about the party? What did you think of the party?” asked Twilight, now nervous about the possible answer she would receive from her marefriend.

“I loved it, mainly because I celebrated with the mare I love the most in the world.”

A smile soon appeared on Twilight’s face at Luna’s sweet words. Twilight was happy that Luna enjoyed the party that she threw. The party may not have been as luxurious and pony-filled as the Grand Galloping Gala, but at least it was a party that she and Luna would never forget.

this can only end well with pinkie involved

Love this story! It's so happy!

This is pretty good but it could be a lot better with some decent editing and a little polish
