Was this shortly before the wedding, or years before? I assume it was shortly before (because the trio of mares don't seem to be foals, but I could be mistaken on this point), but the fact that Cadance isn't a princess yet threw me off a bit.

I like to pretend she was actually more of a 'princess presumptive' until she actually came of age.

Why did you let five ponies you literally just met, who were each hired to help with the wedding be your bridesmaids?
Like I said they were hired help. You don't even know them, and it was Chrysalis who made them bridesmaids after mind controlling Lyra, Minunette, and Twinkleshine.
Yes, they did in fact made it out of the caves and were at the wedding.

But that still begs the question why you let Twilight's friends who you just met, be your bridesmaids. They didn't help you get Shining to propose, they didn't get you out of the caves, are they didn't save your wedding.
I can't help but feel that those three got screwed and not in the good way. They literally got their jobs stolen by ponies who haves no connection with you. Hell, to make it worse, you and Twilight probably forgot about them. You were the only two who knew they were in the caves. Thus no one went back there to go find them, they were trapped in that cave for hours looking for a way out and when they finally did it was night and reception was in full swing. And if they were found earlier there would be no reason for them to give up their position let alone the Mane 5 taking it from them after learning the truth about the real reason, they were just suddenly made bridesmaids in the first place.
All I can say is I hope you have some way to make it up to them Cadance. You owe them that much after all.
Maybe get Chrysalis involved. You two do become friends later and she does owe them an apology.
