You kinda lost me when you disregarded everything we know of Fluttershy and Rainbow's parents. I know this is early in the show and we didn't know a thing about them at the time.
But it seems odd to show them like this.
It's not a bad story by any means. Parts of it just don't add up at all.

How did I disregard it? It's hard to gauge anything about Fluttershy's parents since they're kinda bland and Dash's mom would be overprotective if she knew Dash was injured. It's also reasonable to assume that Dash's parents were stressed by Dash as a teenager because that's literally every parent of a teenager on the planet.
