Following Princess Twilight's ascension to the throne, the military's standards are upped all over Equestria. The Wonderbolts are part of the military, despite the fact that their involvement in military operations has waned over the centuries. Getting out combat uniforms is something new for Rainbow Dash.

Twilight did this not long after she was officially in charge of Equestria. Change doesn't happen overnight, and after so long of 'love and tolerate' some Equestrians (especially younger ponies who haven't really known anything but peace) are having a hard time accepting it.

I'm not wondering when it happened. I got that from reading the story. What I'm wondering is how much good all this will do. The ponies is adressed.
But all of what Twilight is doing will mean absolutely nothing if Equestria gets its ass handed to them again.
So I'm curious as to how much, if at all, Twilight has actually thought this through. We saw how well the security there was worked in the finale.
Not sure Surpreme Leader Twilight can do.
