And there's the danger of her, she's completely neutral. Old Grogar's got summat nasty to undertake now.
So what did he lose...Empathy perhaps?
Ooh I'm interested in what it took his morality? Probably not his magic couldn't be immortality unless he was immortal food for thought I always love these sorts of stories

the catch is likely that, whatever it took fromg rogar, is what ends up making ti so he is stopped later no different than 'canon' as it were.
Damn... You got me... Nice!
Shoot... Got me again...
Really didn't expected to see Grogar but that was very interesting. Keep up the good work!
I've always been a fan Complete Neutral Entities, god-like beings that aren't good or evil, one of my personal favorites the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland (the live action remake specifically).
One of his best quotes to show this being: "I'm not crazy, my reality is just different than yours."
I wonder what Grogar lost, his empathy perhaps?
Beautyful chapter. It must be many decades since she arrived... The emotional supressing still activ?
Since Hina is kinda rich now... Can't she trade for food and mercs to keep her lair save when she is gone?

The artifact answers a single question perfectly, so it would compensate for whatever it took. And Grogar seems the sort to follow instructions carefully without "improvising".
On the other hand, I note he asked for long-term revenge, rather than permanent revenge, so whatever he did may have simply finally faded into history.
The tablet took his mortality? Or mercy?
XD i love that grogar just casually walks in and asks to know how to get ultimate vengeance against ponies xD
11064342
true... and only his bell was left.
Excellent work
An interesting little story, friend. I rather enjoy it though perhaps you should put a bit more effort into formatting. Some paragraphs are damn near a page long without breaks. You could also benefit from slowing down a little and fleshing out more, but other than that your story certainly has some charm.
11064330
It's a good quote.
I know a similar one: I reject your reality, and substitute my own!
11064342
He follows the plan without deviation?
"Plans are an invitation to disappointment."
Great chapter!
That golden liquid was a new one for me.
Still got it, but it was definitely a good one.
11064389
LITCH! LITCH!
Not really, just... A necromancer is 'destroyed', no body to be found, an his (seemingly) indestructible source of power is the only thing to remain?
That just screams 'He isn't dead, he's waiting' to me.
11064626
did seem peculiar didn't it? must destroy the phylactery to fully destroy him.
Really all around brilliant story and quite eager to read more.
I've been wondering the exact same thing a few times now
Alcohol
I accidentally saw the answer on the way up from writing a comment but the answer is The letter M
The letter E, although again I will admit to having accidentally seen the answer on my way back up... not sure why the answers always stand out to me when I move back up
That would be a River
That's a pretty thought out question
So the first step on his path to revenge seems to be "gain knowledge"
Is Grogar really young or something for him to be that afraid of Hena? Because in the show he was one of the most powerful beings in the MLPverse (i think?), or is Hena just overpowered and the strongest one there is? Because it would be good to know if she has limits when it comes to fighting ability.
11064330
Maybe his mortality, so to speak? Maybe he got one of those immortality curses that mean losing all "living sensation", taste, smell, pleasure, etc...
11064809
I think it's more that her strength is based on the Challenger. The stronger they are the stronger she will be for the challenge. And I get the feeling celestia and Luna aren't around just yet or if they are they are merely children.
11064921
Pretty much exactly that; The stronger her opponent who chooses the combat-option, the bigger the power boost she receives to make it more
unfair or challenging, so you have to fight smart. Also the power-boost is bound to Henas duty as the guardian of the pass (and the two artifacts), so NO OP-power boosts outside of work or lair, unless it comes from somewhere else, like say from a magic-amulet. And fighting skill is another thing entirely, currently mostly instinctual physical-type for Hena. And as for our princess duo... They will come up eventually. There is a hint in chapter about the current events happening *cough*oddlycoldearlywinterandangryponies*cough*.
11064927
Begining of the unification?
11064962
Pretty much yeah.
11064252
Indeed she is. And as for Grogars plan... Well it might take awhile to reveal in its completion
11065021
Here is a riddle I made that you can use:
I am your greatest fear, in the night
Yet I'm still there, in morning light
What am I?
The answer is your imagination, because that is where all fears come from.
This riddle can be used for one of the ones that would fail at them. What do you think?
11065034
Quite a good one. And as for it to be used for someone who fails... Depends, do ya want it to be humiliating or lethal?
11064301
I'm guessing the 'catch' is going to be how he is defeated. Objects like the tablet seem to follow the idea that if you get the answer to your greatest ambition, the price is going to be equal to the gain from it. Having the price be that he will never succeed at his goal is *just* the kind of catch that works wonders from an artifact. harmless to you if you ask for knowledge to help, but you will be hoisted by your own petard if you use it to harm others.
11065021
Now, you'll have to wonder:
For whom does Gorgar's bell tolls?
11065036
Your choice on that. Hey, would you happen to have a Discord account?
I found a riddle one time, the riddle was made by a DM in DnD who used a Sphinx, so I believe this is appropriate
Seated high above the land,
I have a face; I have no hands.
Night might wax and day may wane:
Beneath me, no one walks unseen.
Ever at rest, but no rest for me,
I determine your destiny.
You knew me not for all your lives.
Now, know me not, and you shall die. = Sphynx.
11064809
Since she is based on DnD Sphinx, the answer I believe is simple,
“While she is in her lair, she is a being mortals were never supposed to be facing in the first place, and yes creatures with long lives count as mortals”
11065466
Why thank you, and yes I have. Shall I pm a profile?
11065494
Can you help me out please?
11065505
Aand clicked
I wonder how twilight will react if she finds out about Hena's library?
11064927
I assure you I did pick up on that time recurrence.
Hemos visto los inicios de uno de los malotes más grandes de Ecuestria
11065509
Thank you for joining. And if you know anyone else who can help, can you direct them to the server? I'll need all the help I can get I ever want to get this manga made.
watch Grogar's answer be just simply join the ponies and change the way they think of other species and races.
I'd be entertained by the father of monsters becoming a founding father of pony culture and possibly ruining a few Faustian plans (ha, get it)
[intrigued fox head]
might make a good story idea (unfortunately i can't write)
Sadly I have to say your story gets boring. A protagonist needs to struggle for a good story, but everything is just convenient. There is no greater good/bad opposing her, she has food and shelter, and she is to sociopathic to be troubled with the killing of people.
Same is with the travelers, throw some money at Hena and that's it. And you made it even worse this chapter. Now you can get a free pass by solving the riddle and pay if you don't. She even allows people to flee from combat.
What even is she? She isn't a hero, she isn't a villain, she is a cashier.
You could have made her something interesting, like a villain by force, were the rules force her to kill people even so she doesn't want to, with all the emotional trouble of it. The choices when you meet her should be absolute. Answer her riddle corect or she attacks, pay a toll she truely likes, no money or out of mercy, or she attacks, try to flee and she attacks, choose combat and she attacks. And the strengs boost, if need should make her always just slightly stronger then her enemy, so thar they have a chance if they fight with wits.
P.S. Yey my riddle.

Thanks for your analytic criticism, and it also makes sense even to me. Story kinda has a "boring-phase" going on, or it is just my own boring nature bleeding into it. Guess I should work some rule bending/changes in the future to somewhat avoid the "toll-booth route" on the 'current events-part' of the story... Maybe something to shake her up somehow?... Might have some issues since the riddling sphinxes are usually depicted just sticking to one location, maybe leaving to eat or to find a mate depending on the setting. Already have some things planned but not yet written, which might be a tiny problem; planning too far ahead and all that.
Again, thanks for criticism.
P.S. Yep, thought that it was its turn.
What did the tablet take form grogar and u like the use of the music it fits well.
11068248
his mortality, If this follows cannon he becomes a lich and is bested by Megan and her rainbow of light.

Oh.......ah f@#k
