I was wondering, when is the story situated compared to the show ?

It takes place in an alternate universe and on a different planet. Equestria does not exist in this universe nor does any of the show's characters. The magic is also a bit different, which I will go into more in a later chapter. Spell-casting attracts demons and spirits to possess your mind, as you already noticed in the last chapter. They siphon energy from other planes in this universe to cast their spells, each plane allowing for different types of spells. There are four planes for the classical four elements, one for electricity, then there is one for light, one for darkness, one for life, one for death, one for soul, one for mind, one for reality, one for force, one for space, and for time.
Intersting chapter, Vigilant seems to be a little cold with his subjects though but maybe it's just me.
I will try to make bigger feedbacks but english is not my native language so I couldn't help with grammatical faults ^^'

Then it'll be interesting to see how interesting she'll be able to make their interesting relationship. You've already emphasised her youth for her position. Making the scenario not entirely Oedipian, or as it is known otherwise, she isn't a total milf.
I imagine many heiresses throughout history have been in Vigilant's situation. Where marriage could easily equate to usurpation by a partner. A fitting example I can think of would be Queen Elizabeth Tudor. While the modern Elizabeth had the national leeway and lived in a society where her dynasty could continue under her. The original Elizabeth never married, nor did she have any male heirs that she could be displaced in favour of. Allowing her free reign to lead England into its own golden age.
