This piece was amazing when I read it intially and I'm so glad it is getting it's chance on fimfiction.

I really liked the detail of Applejack’s emotions fluctuating and changing throughout the story. Her fears, the memories, the guilt of still being alive, and ultimately the determination to push through and save people. Thankfully, I’ve never experienced my house burning down, but I know a lot of people who have been through it and it’s terrifying. Overall, I think you handled it very well, showing that Applejack still isn’t ‘okay’, but is living and doing her best.

I also like how you portray Rainbow Dash, it’s the side of her I always love to see and why she is one of my favorite ponies to ship. She’s headstrong, fierce, and maybe a bit reckless, but dammit if she doesn’t love just as strongly. She understands that not everyone cope with things the same way she does, and when trying ‘her way’ doesn’t work, she tries ‘their way’, and usually ends up successful.

Overall, great story. Though, I do have one question, and I may have somehow skipped over it while reading...was the dog real? And did it get saved as well?

Thank you! I'm glad that was done well, I was a little nervous about the characters' portrayal. But to answer your question, the dog was Winona, and no she was not real. It was a trick of Applejack's memory. I'm glad you enjoyed!

Powerful stuff! It takes a lot to pull off something as well as you did, and the difficulty is increased tenfold for speedwriting. Really impressive story both times around! Great work!

All I can say really is thank you! I hope to continue to write like this, and that you enjoy!

This is 100% your strongest showing so far Ruby, and you continue to just get stronger and stronger.
The relationship between AJ and Dash is excellently characterised, they are a constant highlight throughout. The new finishing scene is particularly strong for this!
I also love how you expanded this from the speedwrite so well. Actually expanding a fic in a good way is hard to do as it's difficult to know where you should add the extra meat. This story pulls that off with flying colours
You should be really proud of this one Ruby, really proud indeed

ruby, this was fantastic. the procedural drama of AJ becoming a firefighter tangling with the very real, personal, and terrifying emotion of being a victim of such a fire was incredible to watch. you strike this balance between clinical and floral, like a wall of ivy crawling up the face of a concrete building. its amazing, honestly, and damn well nearly made me cry. wonderful work!

I legitimately don't know how to respond to either of these, I'm at a loss. Thank you both so much for the uplifting praise, and I'm very happy you enjoyed it so much! I hope to continue improving and continue to keep you both satisfied with my work. Reading these are making me tear up, thank you again, truly.

Awesome job.

I have a little brother and I would be destroyed I he would died the same way (or any other way really). There's just something about losing your sibling that makes me emotional. Your story was moving.

Have a well deserve like.

See ya

I'm very happy that I had the emotions play well, and not mechanical as I thought they'd come across in writing. I hope you stick around for my other work too! :twilightblush:

Fucking amazing, like seriously. Applejack's not okay, far from it, but she's trying to get there.

Way to make me feel stuff, Ruby. :fluttercry:

I know you worked very hard on this one and it really, really shows. Supportive-and-loving-but-still-brash-and-boisterous-on-the-outside Rainbow is a particular favorite of mine and you wrote her very well here. The way you wrote Applejack was great, too. I could clearly picture and empathize with her internal struggles—they felt so vivid and real and believable. Applejack turning her pain into helping others is something I don't see much of (if at all), but it makes so much sense for her. Just all around fantastic work and I can't wait to see what you cook up next.

This means a whole lot coming from something of a Rainbow Dash aficionado, and more coming from a peer, but more so coming from a friend. Thank you so very much! And as for my other works, stay tuned, there's always something cooking!

Zap Apple is the CUTEST pet name oh my god???

I'm not one for dark and tragic stories, but I thought you did a fantastic job capturing the characterization and emotion in this piece. Noce job.

Hi, Ruby! I reviewed your story!

Ruby, I just want you to know that you're a skilled writer and that this story is fucking lit. The pacing was a particular highlight because you just kept things going and wove everything together beat by beat. Nicely done.

I’d honestly enjoy a prequel to this

Thank you so much!! It's often I stop thinking about my work and let my confidence in my stories wane, but it's refreshing and reinvigorating to hear people still reading and enjoying my work!
