Hello there, I am steve and I love to read FanFics from time to time.

[Art cover made by me! Will be replaced once I get someone to commission to make a better one!]

Starswirl the Bearded was known for his fantastic magical illusions and tricks from his early days as a magician, but as time goes forward, the age of magicians and other talents have grown old. In a modern world filled with new things, he struggles to make meets end as his career as a magician teeters to the edge, unable to compete with the fast-growing new forms of entertainment in the modern world, so he tours the rundown bars and theaters he can find to perform in.

But things brighten for him when he meets Trixie, a girl who believes his powers are real. Together they travel to Ponyville for a performance, but he doesn’t have the heart to reveal that his feats are merely tricks, and risks financial ruin by giving her gifts supplied by his “magic.”

This is definitely a premise I haven't seen done on fimfiction and it has me hooked. I'm looking forward to see how things will go for Starswirl (and Trixie). Hopefully things won't get too sad.

Honestly glad I looked at the new stories column today. I loved the Illusionist ever since my french teacher showed it to me for my first year of french class. It's nice to see an fim story on that. Can't wait to see the rest of this story!

I'm glad someone knows the film! The Illusionist is my personal favorite too, me, my professor and my classmates watched this film as part of our art class back in 2013. Ever since then, I fell in love with the movie. If you want to get updated with new chapters, follow the story and my profile if you're interested!

Thanks! I am aware that this kind of thing hasn't been done on FimFic as well, so I took the opportunity! As for Starswirl and Trixie, you'll find out soon enough. Be sure to follow to get updated for new chapter updates!

Is there an English translation?

You don't need to worry about translations, the film has 95% no dialogue at all

It's nice to see Starswirl getting a decent performence in. I wonder what he's planning to do next?
There's also still that #sad tag looming over the story that has me worried things will get worse.
