A few years after the Battle for Equestria and the subsequent unification of nations, borders between lands become a mere formality and creatures begin to live outside of their species' primary territories. Two such ponies living in the Changeling Hive fall in love, but unfortunately for them, a few bigoted creatures decided to live there too. Their paths cross one day and, for a moment, it looks like hatred will take victory.
Little did the bullies know that changelings not only disapprove of hatred, but are in fact preparing to spread the message of love to the rest of the world.

It's a shame that the story itself is quite boring.
Stories revolve around a conflict of some sorts. The one we have here is resolved with brute force at the very start.
Assumptions like this one hurt your cause. You assume the worst just because someone did something so miniscule as giving you a downvote.

I probably assumed it because, prior to writing the story, I read comments on another story (one thanks to which I found out about the Pride and Positivity event in the first place) that some people had all of their stories downvoted after publishing the one related to the event. The same happened to me within less than an hour after I published this, and I'm not sure whether I noticed it before posting the comment you're referring to or returned to edit it after seeing the other downvotes. Also, to add a little context: for someone who gets hardly any views and rarely more than one like or dislike per story update (and zero likes/dislikes/comments on most days), two downvotes in less than an hour (with potentially more to come) is a lot. It was also happening 3 AM so I won't dismiss the possibility that my judgment wasn't at peak levels
The story might have been more interesting by your standards if I'd given myself more time to plan it, but I'm currently invested in writing something else and writing this this was a spur of the moment. Or it might not. I have no plans to rewrite it or make major edits as of now and whether or not that'll change depends on too many things to give any promises.

Edit: I checked the comment section of that story and okay, there are a couple of phrases there that one might call questionable, but the person's stories have a pretty good like/dislike ratio, so we're probably not thinking of the same one after all.

one is called love between brothers (title is very misleading!) set after season 4 of mlp,spike confronts twilight about being than just her ''number one assistant'' while asking for his own life. twi realizes the error she's made and rectifies it. the drake's heading to school while making his way there suddenly a unicorn colt named dusk shine absentmindedly crashes into him!

While this is a good lesson to give, the delivery was extraordinarily heavy-handed. Like another commenter pointed out, the pacing is a bit iffy and the conflict isn't... quite there about halfway through the story. It largely spends the remaining half just delivering the mortal that you want to explain. A unique reason behind a pride celebration in pony land is a good touch, since it accounts for the differing history of a fantasy world. But other than that, I would continue to practice those kinds of skills in your writing.
Remember, practice makes perfect.
