There's an old story about the first Hearts and Hooves Day. It took place long ago, in the lost kingdom of Asgard. It begins with a lonely prince brewing a love poison for a beautiful princess, and it ends with the war that wiped out the alicorns. It's the story of Loki and Baldur, the story of Sleipnir, and the story of how a dragon came, a kingdom fell, and Chaos reigned.

Part of the Borderworld.

There was a mare in the garden when they pulled up, a white mare with a dark red mane, leaning over her fence to get a better look at her approaching guests. Loki noticed her cutie mark, a quill and inkpot, and judged that she was probably some manner of amateur playwright or novelist.

Some things are simply expected.

"May I see thy hammer?" she finally asked.

Yup, that's a daughter of Thor, alright.

Luna smashed Mjolnir into his leg, and Thor let out a scream as he dropped to one knee.

Without a shadow of a doubt.

Always good to see my handy dandy links to helpful information come in handy. Eagerly looking forward to seeing where this goes from here.

Luna smashed Mjolnir into his leg, and Thor let out a scream as he dropped to one knee.

Loki burst into hysterical laughter.

"That's for leaving and making mother sad!" Luna shouted, before running in and smashing his other knee. "'Tis what thou deservest!"

I have a good feeling about this family  :trollestia:

He slumped back in the cart, defeated.

…Did they take turns pulling the cart?

Finally back in his comfort zone, Thor’s usual confidence returned as he recounted one of his many stories of defeating the Midgard Serpent.

I wonder if that means he did it multiple times, or that the story changes with each telling.

This one was such an exceptional little chapter. I even laughed out loud at a few parts, in so little time you captured the sibling dynamic in a way that convinced me of the many years of history between these characters. Celestia and Discord's first conversation was absolutely priceless. The characterization was specially strong for everyone involved, and while the Norse mythology takes center stage I still get the feeling that we are somewhere in Equestria. If this were a stand alone fantasy novel I wouldn't be surprised at all, it has a lot of charm on its own. I hope you can continue it at some point because there's a lot of potential here.

Thank you. Glad you liked it. I hope to continue it as well. As always, it's just a matter of when.
