Well, Pip's regarded by many to be a gay icon (she's not. She's a character who happens to be gay, an important distinction) and you know right now there's someone getting the vapors she's taking Red's stiff one eye, and not in the fun way. It doesn't matter of course, its not canon, but the fact that its being done for someone somewhere to take offense largely for political reasons.
Or people think Littlepip is sexy and Calamipip is OTP.
