So what you're trying to say that freedom and joy could make you forget who you originally were when you were imprisoned. When you are captured, you start thinking about the good you wanted to do and how much you wanted to change. However, when you are free, the joy of the moment and the thought that you are finally free to do what you want, all those years of self-loathing and thoughts are just thrown down the drain.
