This story takes place after the events from the episode Power Ponies
Shining Armor and Twilight are spending a few days with their parents for a reprieve and one night the stallion walks into his sister's bedroom. There he finds an odd book labeled "How To Train a Princess" from the peculiar Enchanted Bookstore. Without realizing it he is magically transformed into an alicorn princess and now has to complete a course of strange classes within the tome. The courses will be hard and many will take days within the strange universe that this book constructed. He will have to pass a final test in which he may either turn back into a stallion or remain a princess alicorn forever.

Faust is still often considered part of either the creation mythos of the world, or as the mother of Celestia and Luna. Such references would only be in fairytales and, as said, myths, though, and that would mean that Twilight would have read them when she was young, but not again since then.

Funnily enough, I am kinda enjoying this premise, even beyond it's potential for lulz.
I want to see Cadence's reaction to this, first for the funny. then for her to be a supporting wife who helps Shining ace the classes and cheer Shining up from his embarassment. Because stable and loving couple who are not so shallow as to inadvertently torment their partner while they're going through a tough time.
I also kinda want to see Shining somewhat ace the classes, not because he's a good girl princess, but because he's already a prince and has experience in the subjects. With him overcoming any curveballs thrown by the book with the help of Twilight and/or Cadence.
Basically, I'm hoping for a story where the genderbent protag doesn't just roll over and become the cutesy girly girl waifu "They were always destined to be!" Because Kampher can go die in a fire... and many Ranma 1/2 fics out there that lock Ranma's curse immediately.

I like the premise of this story of Shining learning to be a princess. I too want Cadance to see him as an Alicorn Mare and to be supportive as well as teasing him in a playful manner. I'm also curious why Twilight forgot her time in the book because clearly in your establishing shot of Faust's Office you clearly stated Twilight graduated the course because Faust had a picture with Twilight hugging her in graduation attire. Also does that mean Cadance failed or never attended the "school" of Princess training like Celestia, Luna, Twilight,and now attending Shining Armor or as he'll most likely be called from now in when at "school" Gleaming Shield. Because there was no mention of her in the opening shot in Faust's office like the other 3 princesses. And finally i would like to see Shining at first trying his damndest to figure out how to get out of Princess training resisting things and getting the funniest and ironic consequences for his rebelling and misbehaving at the start but over time he adapts and actually start to have fun and does pass and when the time comes to choose to be a stallion or mare and new princess he chooses to stay a mare

Nothing wrong with the concept. It just that some stories seem to use it as an excuse to rewrite Ranma's personality as well. Strained Harmony over on Fanfiction.net was the fic that really turned me off of the concept, as it felt more like a first person perspective of a systematic brainwashing than the romance comedy it apparently was going for.
I couldn't care less about what gender Ranma (and in this fic Shining) chooses to be. I just want it to be them be the ones to choose it, and not have an outside force rewrite their personalties to fit the gender their currently in.

This was great you're already making Shining wonder if being an Alicorn Princess isn't as bad as he thought, and you got him wondering if he should stay a "she" after "her" Princess lessons. I hope at the end of this story Shining chooses to stay as "Gleaming Shield the Alicorn Princess". If that subtle nod about her own ponyquin is anything "she" is already considering staying a female Alicorn even subconsciously. Who is the next teacher Twilight, Luna, Celestia, or Faust herself?
