yeah you messed up Twilight. BIG TIME. the very first thing you should have done was shatter their statue. you KNEW that stoning doesn't last forever. some way, some how they get free. And Twilight, stop pulling punches if you even want your world to return.
also i have one guess on who the other changeling is.one or both of the Kirin given they have no proof of their passed. if not them then the doc. They question becomes. how was Slipsod missed? I would think the lack of love from him would give them away to each other.
Ya know this the design of these mechs is actually MORE likely then the bipedal ones as shown in most mech shows and games as the four legged model would be far more stable, and if built right would be every bit as agile as any two legged mech might be.

I mean, smashing that statue would have been VERY out of character for her.
Could she have been better prepared for their inevitable release? Obviously. But, hey, she had a galactic empire to manage! Little details, they tend to slip by...
And that was TWO guesses! So they don't count...no matter how accurate one of them may or may not have been. ;P
*Author sets up a large-ish character arc and much speculation*

though about it midway through.

You assume battletech doesn’t already frequently use quad mechs.
Awesome story. Loving this crossover! Keep up the good work.
Time for a bughunt...
Its sad... I hope you make them build up a lot of forces before dropping em into the deep end...
Guess your not that kind to em... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bit of a belated answer, but it really kind of doesn’t. In canon BattleTech, quads are kind of the red-headed stepchildren of ‘Mech design; they exist and do have some stability advantages, but their lack of a distinct separately twistable torso and actual arms to mount weapons in hurt their versatility enough to keep the bipedal models decidedly dominant.
Of course, ‘canon BattleTech’ is also a universe populated by likewise bipedal humans instead of the mostly-quad-themselves inhabitants of Equestria. That explains the difference sufficiently in my book -- especially since neurohelmets are ostensibly designed to help the pilot relate to their ride exactly as though it were a natural extension of their own body, which makes machines that diverge too far from their own natural body plan at least somewhat problematic right there. (Never mind how things like the Jenner are supposed to work under that paradigm... )
A second changeling?
Mmh. Only a matter of time before they try something.
