Proper Prose

Just your average guy, blundering his way through life, questioning the mysteries of the universe, reading fiction and writing fiction. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Twilight Sparkle, having finished Star Swirl's spell and ascended to the position of alicorn princess, is to be crowned soon. Sunset Shimmer, her work complete, moves on as well.

An OLD, OLD, story I started way back when. I thought I'd post it now to make up for my absence. It is not complete in the sense of how I originally envisioned it, but I will mark it as so regardless.

How old is this? I had an excerpt of this story in this blog post.

Too bad you literally ended this right in the middle. It would have been interesting to see where it could have gone. Oh well.

Glad you find it interesting! For what it is, I think I ended it at the best point that could be done.

This is very introspective, but it works as an exploration of an idea: of what would happen if Sunset didn't go through the mirror. A good follow-up/completion to it would be showing Sunset and Twilight interacting, perhaps coming to an accord with each other... or perhaps showing that even with the best of intentions Twilight being made ruler drives an implicit wedge between them, leading to Sunset's decision to leave Canterlot and put it all behind her. This might be an old story, but it's worth reading. Thanks!

There was going to be more, where Celestia finds Sunset's room empty and she and Luna discuss why Sunset might have left, but I decided that where I stopped it was enough and kept the focus solely on Sunset.

Fair enough, and it does work. Leave 'em wanting more, as they say...

Whelp, I guess next is Celestia finding an empty room!
