Things are stranger than they seem.

E

When ponies talk in groups, you can never quite make out what they're saying. Follow them around and you'll notice they follow very specific patterns. It's the same thing, day in and day out. It never rains unless the entire town is depressed. The weather is controlled, there are no criminals or existential threats. There's never any sadness that isn't fixed after a half hour of talking. No conflict left unresolved.

I've noticed all this in a week. And the more I look, the more I feel like I'm slipping into madness.

This place isn't real.

Oh my goodness! I love this story! The conflict is really interesting.

This story is amazing. Looking forward to more

Ah, yes, agreed. A story where the conflict is having no conflict.. Welp, looks like I'll be staying here for a while..

I'm super excited on how this story will play out. Very rarely are there how with realistic elements such as this. The fact that Equestria is a cartoon and many thing in it doesn't reflect real life would definitely mess someone up. Voice actors who never stumble on their lines, bad things happening only to push forward a plot. This idea is genius!

A conflict where the protagonist is studying the timing and science of conflicts! He studies the meta-conflicts making this a story about meta-meta-conflicts! BRILLIANT!

meta... is he gonna become fully selfaware and realize he is in a fic if so i pity him.

if he does realize that wont he become some kind of god (eg, plot conviniancing himself stuff), or will he go insane with the realization that everything is fake and nothing matters. will some obligitory arc come where the main 6 say "we're your friends and etc" what would happen if he rejects the ending, how will he and the characters act.

so many possibilitys so much potential i wonder where this story will go

I can't wait for more! :raritystarry:

Seeing that comedy tag, I'm almost hoping it really is just a story-esq world. Nothing sinister, it's just a world that works a certain way.

Hell on a person from a very different reality.

Personally...i'd be paranoid! Everything being so clearly laid out....horribly consistently correct paranoia whenever something is suspicious.

Which is nigh weekly.

Imagine superstition being proven correct crazily often, leading to more and more fears being more considerable as true.

"Well, everypony has something they're really good at, right? Once a filly or a colt finds their special talent, then they get their cutie mark."

Cutie marks... Its about perspective. If their world was less story focused, it would be a reflection of the individual. With the story thing, though...its destiny bullshit.

Its a fault of cannon. Cutie marks are sometimes something of destiny, sometimes a more personal experience that brands you with a symbol of who you are, your passion, or both. We see ponies clearly doing things unrelated to their Mark, as the mark is more of a symbol of discovery, part of becoming an adult.

"You just showed a lot of... human vulnerability admitting that to me. That was personal."

Ahh. That's what it was. The artificial (at least to humans) automatic trust made it impossible to actually trust back. Trust so easily given often feels false, dangerous, and without value.

Without it having value, it's not the sort of trust you can reciprocate.

Hoping not, honestly. The focus seems to be on how the plot driven nature of the world makes a person feel.

The story world is actively bending rules to make sure he doesn't bite it from some basic compality issues. That's..nice of it.

Ohh! Right, pony dreams always seemed to be made of real world memory and little else.

Always very grounded and easy to manage.

Real dreams(though some can be fairly grounded or straight up memory replays/perfectly real) often are abstract and chaotic.

That would be quite a confusing and terrifying experience for someone used to a funhouse mirror of reality.

I enjoy where I think this is going. I hope his hubris and the idea of becoming a seer pans out to be legendary.

This story still ensnares me, I read and read wanting to read even more when it's over. The world around me just goes blank, it's me and the words alone.

Really good job.

Excellent writing, never have I before binged 8000 words so quickly! I really enjoy the analytical aspects of this story, and the protagonist does come off as very real.

Well, this is damned interesting story and I'll certainly be tracking it.

10270040 My dreams are almost all exceedingly grounded. My waking world is more fantastically unrealistic than my dreams, most of the time. For instance, in this insane reality of ours, the media and government attack parents who are concerned about their children being given secret drag shows and taught graphic pornography in grade school.

How absurd. Nothing in my dreams has ever come close to such surreal horror.
