Frick berrys mom Ruby deserves better
More often than not, they seem to make sense until you think about WHY they make sense.
I find this kind of relatable. My mother and my brother would squabble about something just about every day. And by Celestia, it hurt. I couldn't pick a side. I felt for my brother, despite how he... Sometimes grated me. But more often than not, my mother was justified, if not straight-up right. It hurt me something fierce.
Very interesting to see some nuances develop with both of Ruby’s mom’s, Both of whom seem to have good reasons to care about her. It seems that both are trying to have her best interests at heart. Either way, probably for the best that Berry is leaving behind the house, as the withdrawal would probably have been even more brutal
His mom is out of pocket. He’ll die if he doesn’t get alcohol. In fact, when he was packing, 90% of what he brought should’ve been alcohol. And alcoholic can’t just stop drinking one day or they’ll die from withdrawal.

Yes and no. You are 100% correct that failing to taper an alcoholic is fatal, but you don't need "most of the suitcase filled of alcohol" to taper down to zero. Rule of thumb for a safe taper is reduce your consumption by one drink per day (a drink being equivalent to one glass of wine, or one 50mL shot of 80proof spirits). Even if you started out as someone who was drinking half a liter of absinthe a day, you could safely taper down to zero with less than 3 liters. (Also the valium he has means he can taper with even less required alcohol.)
Either way, for anyone else who finds themselves in this situation and is looking to taper, it's highly recommended to talk to a physician and coordinate a taper with benzos and a monitoring program. But if that isn't an option, the "one drink fewer per day" is a very safe method.
Didn't mean to distract from the pony shenanigans, but figured I'd make the comment in case it helps a future reader down the road.
Anyway, back to the pony comments!
I am a sucker for that slightly more realistic art style of the pones.
It also makes them all that more easy to visualize on earth. Flat colored flash animation is great, but it's not very easy to picture in person.
Aww, that is far too adorable to picture. Berry giving her tiny daughter pony rides around the house.
It's just too cute!
Heh, I love the repetition to nail the tenuous reference into the viewer.
"They went to see a doctor. YES, THAT DOCTOR."
Oh... fuck.
Wow, I genuinely didn't see that coming. That is going to complicate things.
Not only can I can hear John DeLancie's voice saying those lines, it even includes that giddy glee that his voice gets when he's pleased with himself. Bravo for nailing that man's style.
Well that was... horrifying.
Not like I clutched my blanket in terror there
Ah, damn, even with all the foreshadowing this scene still hurts.
It's also rare to have a scene where you feel emotionally hurt for literally everyone in the scene, all at once. There are no "bad guys" and "good guys". You have Berry who only wants to protect the sister/daughter that they love, you have the original mother who is terrified at seeing what is now happened to the daughter they have loved for decades, and you Ruby who is beyond heartbroken at having to make an impossible choice.
Hell of a scene.
Noooo
Another sad chapter
