(4-4) As Daybreaker Appears
I watched as the group looked at the two sisters, frightened by their anger at each other. I, however, while nervous of the white alicorn, was grateful for the blue one’s appearance. Her being there meant that I should have been safe from Celestia.
I watched as the two stared at each other for an eternity, seemingly waiting for the other to make a move. While Luna looked angry at her sister, Celestia looked absolutely enraged, and had her teeth bared at her. I didn't know what was going through her mind, but it was likely unpleasant.
“You did this, didn’t you?” she whispered, her teeth still clenched. Then she started to yell. ”You brought him here so you could watch me suffer! Because you’re still angry that I banished you!”
Princess Luna looked at her, her angry look being replaced with confusion. “What?” she asked, then shook her head and spoke again. “Celestia, you are being irrational. If you would simply-”
“You’re trying to turn them against me!” she interrupted. “To humiliate me! Because you’re still bitter about what I had to do to you!”
I couldn’t fathom the hypocrisy of her statement. She had tried to get me killed twice thus far because of her bitterness over something I didn’t do. However, before either Luna or I could comment on that fact, Twilight spoke up.
“Princess, we’re not-”
“Silence!" she barked, quickly turning towards the Princess of Friendship. "I gave you an order that you failed to carry out because of this creature, because you’re too blind to see that he’s manipulating you!”
“Celestia,” Luna spoke, bringing her sister’s attention back to her. “You must calm down and let go of the hate you have,” she said slowly, as though speaking to a child. “This will not end well if you continue down the path you are on.”
“Are you threatening me?” the princess spat.
“I am simply asking you to be rational, and to let go of whatever anger you have for either Sombra or this creature,” she told her calmly. “Anger has caused me to suffer, and it will cause you to suffer as well.”
I watched as Celestia began to breathe deeply, taking in the words Luna told her. I hated the fact that I was still sitting next to her in her rage, and hoped that she would finally see how unreasonable she was being to me. That hope faded when she turned to face me, parts of her hair once again starting to turn into fire.
“You!” she seethed, an awful aura surrounding her. “You are the reason for this! You took away the pony I cared the most about, and then killed the friend I held most dear! And now your return has humiliated me in front of my subjects!”
I should’ve expected what she said, but for some reason, I didn’t. I couldn’t believe she was accusing me of humiliating her, and that she was still blaming me for whatever Sombra did to hurt her. With that, all of my anger reached a boiling point.
“You humiliated yourself!” I told her without thinking. “You said I was trying to steal the Crystal Heart when I was being watched by you from the moment I got here, and then, when it was found, you tried to say I put it back as part of some plan to trick you! Do you understand how ridiculous that is?”
“There you go again!” she screamed. “You’re trying to turn everypony against me when they should be against you! Even if you’re not him, he’s probably hiding inside of you, waiting to see me fall so he can take power!”
“I’m not doing anything! I just want to leave! You’re turning them against you. And even if I was, outside of Luna and Fluttershy, the most they’ve done is not kill me at your orders! If you would just help me, I might have already left by now!”
“The one I love is gone because of you! My friend was killed by you! The two most important ponies in my life are gone, and now you’re trying to take more from me with your lies!”
“I! AM! NOT! SOMBRA!” I roared. “I don’t care what happened to you, you don’t get to blame me for things I didn’t do just because I look like someone else!”
“YOU DID DO THOSE THINGS! DON’T TELL ME THAT YOU DIDN’T DO THEM! YOU DID!”
“NO I DIDN’T! SO GROW UP AND GET OVER IT!”
The last thing I saw before Celestia blasted me was her changing into Daybreaker.
Luna used her magic to stop the second blast that her sister, Daybreaker, directed at a now unconscious Alex, who had been flung across the room.
"Shining Armor," Luna said with a voice that was both calm and forceful as she avoided a shot to herself by Daybreaker, “please bring that creature to safety.”
"NO YOU DON'T!” she shouted, aiming her blast for the former member of her guard.
“Princess Celestia, stop!” the Princess of Friendship got out, protecting her brother from her with just a moment to spare. “Please calm down! You’re going to hurt somepony!”
“You’re all against me! Even after everything he’s done, you’re sympathizing with that monster! You’ve chosen him over me!”
“We haven’t chosen anypony! You’re just-”
“Don’t lie to me! And don't tell me I'm being irrational! I know you think I’m being unreasonable, even though you’ve no idea what I’ve been through because of him!”
Suddenly, there was movement to her right, and Daybreaker turned to see Shining Armor putting Alex on his back. She shot at him with rage, but the prince teleported away before they could be hit.
“RAAAHHH!” she screamed, closing her eyes and shooting at the ceiling, pieces of it falling to the flood. “You and Sombra are plotting to take my throne, aren’t you?" she bellowed, her words directed at her sister. "Admit it! You hate me for what I had to do to you!”
“Twilight,” Luna called, flying up and shooting at Daybreaker, “Celestia is getting out of control. Something must be done.”
Both the princess and Daybreaker knew exactly what that meant. Luna wanted the Elements to be used on her sister. However, the former stood frozen, staring at the latter as she screamed and shot at her student.
Cadance was startled to see her husband teleporting into the Crystal Empire, especially with a certain dark-coated stallion on her back.
“What are you doing?” she asked him harshly. “Why is he here? Chrysalis just told us-”
“You have to get back there!” he interrupted. “Celestia’s going crazy! She tried to hurt me twice, and I think Twilight might be in danger!”
She paused for a second, taking in what he said. She believed much of what Celestia said, especially given what Chrysalis had told her, and wanted to see Alex gone as soon as possible. However, she hadn't expected the princess to dive off the deep end, and especially didn't think she'd attack her former students. Still, she quickly put on a determined look. “I’ll be right there,” she told him, quickly teleporting back to Canterlot to see Daybreaker shooting at her sister-in-law. In a nick of time, she cast a forcefield around the Princess of Friendship and her friends, protecting them from Daybreaker's fury.
“You’re against me as well, aren’t you Cadance?” she seethed. “You sympathize with him, just like they do!”
“I couldn’t care less about what happens to that creature,” she responded, stamping a hoof, “and actually agree with you about him. But attacking my husband and his sister is where I draw the line. This has gone far enough!”
“NONE OF YOU UNDERSTAND!” Daybreaker screamed in fury, sending out a blast that was strong enough to break down portions of the walls of the castle. Cadance once again used her magic to protect Twilight and her friends, and then began her own attack against the fiery queen, Luna being at her side.
The Princess of the Night looked down at Twilight, hoping to see her gathering herself and her friends and preparing to use the Elements. Instead, what she got was stunned silence at the scene from the group. The Elements were not going to be used, and Celestia would not be returning to her previous form. At least, not right now, or in the near future.
“Princess Cadance,” Luna called, dodging a blow from Daybreaker and sending off a blast of her own, “Twilight and her friends are in no position to help us at the moment. Without the Elements of Harmony’s use, Celestia will not be returning to us.”
“Okay, so what do we do about that?”
“DON’T YOU DARE TRY TO ATTACK ME!" Daybreaker screamed. "I WILL BANISH YOU ALL FOR WHAT YOU'RE DOING! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW I'VE SUFFERED!"
“Her being here will risk not only us, but everypony in Equestria. As powerful as I am, I cannot do what needs to be done alone. I will need your help in sending her away. Do you understand what I am suggesting to you?”
“Yes, I understand,” Cadance answered with determination, gathering her strength

From all of Celestia/Daybreaker's nonsensical accusations in this chapter there can be no doubt. There's something in her head either twisting the meaning of the words spoken to her or that literally has her for a puppet. I swear if it turns out that this is the author's interpretation of paranoid Celestia I'm officially washing my hands. Because there's paranoid, and then there's whatever this is. The accusation thrown at Cadance the moment she showed up stands out remarkably as one that made me think that there was something literally telling Celestia what to think.

Does anyone think that just maybe Alex was summoned in Sombra's body for exactly this, that whoever summoned Alex gave him Sombra's body knew that once Celestia lost control of the situation she would no longer be the kind loving mentor she appeared to be but rather a murderous monster who for all intents and purposes is self-righteous, manipulative, egoistical, and morbidly obese.

She's not paranoid. She's just completely jumped off the deep and gone absolutely insane end because of Sombra and Alex.
Sombra's villainy made mirror Sombra have to take up villainy to balance out their worlds (although only she and Starswirl know about this in this story) Sombra then proceeded to "kill" somepony who she considered a close friend, and, from her viewpoint, made Radiant Hope, who was supposed to be a princess, give up on her studies. And then he came back twice and tried to rule over the Crystal Empire and Equestria. And now, "Sombra" is back again, denying any wrongdoing on his part, his presence (from her perspective) being a direct cause of another pony giving up on being princess, and her own sister is taking his side to the point where she's calling her out in front of her former students and her subjects. All of that combined is warping her perspective, being warped even more once she became Daybreaker.
Tldr: Celestia knows what she's doing is wrong, but she can't help herself.

honestly i feel we kinda needed this in the story before this point to make celestia fall to the deep end believable, maybe in flash back when celestia was contemplating alex, it make more sense and give this chapter more weight

I'd agree with you there. A flashback, even a brief glimpse into Celestia's mind/memory would make the downward spiral seem more 'logical' and carry more weight. As it stands it's very much the embodiment of 'well, that escalated quickly!'
While this chapter makes me wary of where this will continue, I'm going to give it another shot before I make a decision.
But I agree with others in that this was far too abrupt. Celestia is a diplomat first and foremost, and this is just entirely out of character for her. You using paranoia as the excuse just does not fit the thousand year ruler who has remained calm even in the face of an invasion, especially without any serious lead up to the breaking point, nor any indication insofar of this version of Celestia being all that different from her most common depictions. Maybe if there were more points beforehand showing her being off her rocker when Sombra/ALex is NOT involved might make this more believable, but as it stands...this feels forced.

And second, this seemed to be the way things were going. I had commented that I could see this story going two ways. Either Celestia becoming Daybreaker because of how increasingly paranoid she was getting, not to mention her own attitude towards Alex. Seeing only the body and not the person in this scenario.
Or that Alex would be pushed so far socially that he would be forced to accept that role as a villain and potentially become a worse adversary. This at the time were simple observations at a time, and I can see my first one was spot on!

I will agree that, in hindsight, this chapter was rushed (or, more precisely, didn't have enough behind it to give it full context). Another half chapter, or even a quarter of a chapter, might have made this scene make much more sense and be much more believable. I will try and do better in the future.
Although, I might see if I can't rewrite 3-4, or add things on to it, to put more context against this scene

Okay, she's not paranoid. You're saying not that there's more to her situation than paranoia. You're saying that paranoia isn't a factor at all. Bullshit. The accusation Celestia threw at Cadance when she winked in that 'you're turning on me now too', not to mention all the grasping at straws that all this is somehow the result of 'Sombra' manipulating everypony, is the epitome of paranoia.
Hell, multiple times Celestia's arguments have gone back to 'you're doing X to make me look incompetent/foolish/stupid/crazy/otherwise unfit for the throne' being thrown at Alex. When it always loops back to something like that, it's paranoia. Also, apparently Cadance has secretly been colluding with someone (either Shining Armor or Sombra/Alex if I'm remembering correctly) to seize the throne from Celestia. The throne for which abdication has already been made clear as an inevitability a la season 9 within the context of the story.
Plus paranoia is like a textbook insanity symptom. She drove herself crazy by running herself in circles in her own head. In any case, if what you're trying to say is that these are her own thoughts and have been the entire time, then I stand by what I alluded to before and that others have said outright in turn. There was no transition from Celestia to this gibbering fool with a nuke gun wearing her as a skin suit. If there were no extraneous circumstances then she slipped way too fast. You can't see Celestia in the caricature you have traipsing about in your story right now. Not only that, you can't even see how Celestia turned into this caricature by going through the story.
If you as the author have to clear up something so core to your story to your audience, after you've published your writing, then you have fundamentally failed as a writer because literally your only saving grace after publishing is that you're doing so online, chapter by chapter. That doesn't excuse you from making mistakes that would ruin authors of physical literature. It just means you can 'patch' those mistakes. But if you don't 'patch' them, then see my above statement.

To clarify my comment, yes she is paranoid, but she's not paranoid just because and knows that she's being irrational, but her hate for Sombra is making her continue to be irrational anyway. Basically, she knows her accusations against him and her own allies are dumb, but in the heat of the moment, can't stop herself from saying them, which is why I say she's jumped off the deep end instead of being paranoid.

Um, and I do think that I wrote her knowing she's being irrational. You just might have missed it because, in hindsight, I wasn't as thorough as I should've been (as others have pointed out).

Forgive me for being short with you, but I have no patience for character bashing in fanfiction, and while that doesn't seem to be what you were intending, that doesn't stop it from feeling like it. I'm a very 'heart on my sleeve' person, so sometimes things come out.
Anyway, I already figured out that there were things you weren't as clear with as you should have been and probably meant to be. I'm probably gonna keep reading since I'm this far in.

Personally, over the last few chapters, I was starting to think Celestia was just becoming corrupt from her hate with "Sombra", instead of she's just pissed off and not thinking straight. As others said, the sheer irrationality this Celestia is showing feels a little forced. But Celestia being like this because she's corrupt and on the verge of braking because of it...that (I think) would have made things not feel forced at all: it would make perfect sense.
In any rate, whatever the deal is with Celestia, I'm enjoying this story so far.
If there is a mastermind behind this, I have to give he/she an applause on job very well done.

Sombra is behind this, but not in the way Celestia envisions
What would be the best way to get back at someone you hate, than to force a mortal into your body and sit back and watch as she self-destructs on herself. It explains how Alex got into Sombra's body in the first place with icing on the cake being Sombra banking on Radiant hope returning control of his body to him. She's in the crystal empire and his body has just been teleported to said kingdom.
on another note, Radiant hope or princess Amore, who was the lover and who was the close friend? Celestia did mention he took two ponies from her but didn't clarify who was which or if they were the same pony.
