Sunset and a gundam ok this is a definite track because that concept is so good
I hope you plan to have the IBO characters be the same as in the anime like Mikazuki being a man of few words.

If you read the description, this isn't set during the anime at all, but during the Calamity War. So we won't meet the characters we know and love until much later, either as the final chapter, or a big change to season 2's finale.
The prologue itself is set some time before the anime starts, but that's the most we'll see of the current time period for a long time.

I AM GUNDAM! I actually built some gunpla. One is a 1/100 scale HG Barbatos Lupus Rex. My favorite gundam series is the Gundam 00 because it was my first anime that I fully watch and it brought me into anime and Gundam. But Iron Blooded Orphans is a close second. So keep typing some more GUNDAM. It is 40 years old now.

The set up was intriguing. I don’t know a thing about Gundam but you somehow got me hooked by having the intro start 300 years after the story would “really” begin. Probably by giving me a sense of an expansive if long forgotten history making the world and crossover feel... real for lack of a better word.

Two totally different types of machines. Mobile suits have pilots, while mobile armors (in this universe at least) are fully autonomous machines. No human input at all.
Seriously, you need to have some understanding of Iron Blooded Orphans, at least, to fully get what's going on. This story will never go anywhere if I have re explain it all time.
Heck, mobile suits don't even exist yet in this universe. But that won't last much longer.

The short answer is that Cosmos, which isn't even her actual name, is the supreme being in the multiverse. And she loves sticking her nose into a universe's business. Usually because it needs serious help in some way.
Knowing who and what she is, isn't required to get the story though.

Eventually, The Gundam Frame wasn't the only mobile suit frame developed during the war. We just haven't gotten that far yet.

Well, the girls did see Sunset in her pony form before she came back through the portal, so they did have something to go on. How many of them live long enough to see Equestria is another story of course.
