I'm still here; I watch you play. But I can't think of much to say.

Cozy Glow didn't really care much about being exiled to the human world. To her, it would just to be another prison and another jailor.

So why is Sunset being so nice to her...?

This story was inspired by Glow In The Dark, Shine In The Sun.

Written for the Cozy Glow Short Story Contest.

:applecry: But I couldn't finish it in time...

“And this isn’t actually a prison,” Sunset continued. “Equestria just have a bad habit of dumping its criminals here.”

Perfectly summarises how Equestria views the human world; dump the mess somewhere else for somebody else to clean up.

I think someone should FINALLY make a story where the Mayor, or even a President finds out about Equestria. And are Piss at the Ponies for sending there Villains and Problems to Earth. I like to see this; ( HUMANITY Is Superior/ NOT a Doormat.) And our Leaders Scolding Celestia, Luna, AND ESPECIALLY Starswirl the Bearded for creating the Mirror Portal, and dump their Magic problems and Bad Guys to Earth.

HOW do you like it Ponies, IF we dump our problems like Terrorists, Neo Nazis, Racists, Criminals, Bad Politicians, and Leader Dictators for a change! I'm only joking, but still.

10452825
There is a story in there.

10452829
I mean it could workm

10452836

What?! I mean the Title of the Story that you mention earlier?

10453319

Oh. Then WHY did you say "there is a story in there" before??!!

10453330
'There's a story in that' is a common figure of speech.

10452800
Once is not a "habit". Star Swirl banished the Sirens there, Clover the Clover hid an artefact there, and Sunset Shimmer went there of her own volition.

10453799
You just stated 3. The Time Twirler is another one, and those are merely the ones we know about. How much other stuff has Equestria dumped here that we're yet to find?

10453330
He means "that's a concept that would make for a great story"

10453822
The Memory Stone and the Time Twirler were not criminals. They were inanimate objects.

10453943
But they were dumped there. My point stands; Equestria seems to like dumping stuff in our world.

10453963
Still just a handful of instances. Not really enough evidence to support that theory. Most ponies don't even know the human world exists.

With that confirmation, Twilight turned to the girl. “This is your last chance. And I truly mean it, Cozy Glow. The only reason you’re here is because Sunset asked me so if you don’t want to join Chrysalis and Tirek in the Royal Gardens, you better not waste it.”

Now I feel bad for Tirek and Chrysalis, as they're left to rot in stone while their willing co-conspirator gets to live a free life in the human world just because she's younger and cuter than they are.

10455247
What about Discord then? He broke Cozy and Tirek out of prison, gave them a doomsday artifact and told them to wreak havoc and still got away scott free because """he was just trying to help!"""

10455317
More because he ran from one end of Equestria to another on foot to warn them of the threat, then willingly risked his own life to help the Mane Six escape from the villains, and after that decided to stay and fight a completely hopeless battle rather than flee with them.

Though you still didn't say what makes Cozy Glow any more deserving of a redemption than Tirek or Chrysalis are.

10455334
The picture in my artist comment sums it up pretty well. Emphasis on the child part.

I love the story, I just wish that the chapters were a bit longer.

10459327
I'm glad you like it so far and I'm sorry for the chapters getting shorter.
The next one is 1'000 words, I swear!

As far as Cozy could tell, Sunset looked genuinely concerned for her. But she didn't understand why. Sunset was her jailor. She shouldn’t care about her.

Baby-sitter would be more accurate.

Wasn't expecting there'd be two more chapter but been enjoying it and like the design of the apartment

Sunset's being awfully hostile, surely she knows why Cozy was locked up to begin with, right?

10477272
Hostile?
Oh, you mean to Twilight?

10478382
That'll be adressed in chapter 6.

10478690
I just hope Sunset hasn't stopped considering Twilight a friend.

When's the next chapter gonna be out it's been a month???

10487446
As soon as I finish it.

10455403
What, in your honest opinion, is a crime child villains would have to commit for an unanimous decision that "being a child" isn't good enough anymore and they need to be punished like the adult villains?

I'll be honest; I've seen other shows with child villains, like Law and Order, who not only had no remorse for their crimes but honestly enjoy what they're doing.

Sometimes they even give the impression of "Haha I'm a kid, you can't do anything to me!"

Because of these factors I'm numb to the whole "just a child" reasoning. Or the notion that there always has to be a tragic reason behind why they do what they.

It happens of course but not all the time. Sometimes, pardon my French, people are just little shits no matter how old they are or what you do for them. Now I'm making it perfectly clear I don't believe the notion someone is somehow born evil, I just believe it's possibly for someone to become a remorseless sociopath even at a young age.

Or as Alfred Pennyworth says "Some men just want to see the world burn." That applies to children too. Some kids just want to see the world burn as much as the adults do.

Now I'll admit Cozy Glow gets some leeway because the writers never gave her any kind of backstory. Why is that by the way? In fact, did we really need a Big Bad child villain? Diamond Tiara the schoolyard bully was a fitting child antagonist, there was no need for a child as a major villain. I think the writers were too focused on the twist villain aspect (Chancellor Neighsay is the season's Big Bad? Nope: it's Cozy Glow?! What a twist!) to question whether or not it was actually a good idea. Sure she had her moments but I was up for Chrysalis, Sombra and Tirek being the Legion of Doom rather than Cozy.

Anyway I'm rambling; back to Cozy Glow herself. Now as for her first defeat: on the one hand we were never given an onscreen explanation as to why the princesses chose to send her straight to Tartarus. On the other hand she wasn't all bothered by it; first thing she did was try to manipulate Tirek with her "insincere syrupy sweetness" as Tirek himself put it.

Season 9 comes along and while she, Tirek, and Chrysalis were victims/pawns of Discord's plan to give Twilight confidence, they made it clear once they were calling the shots they didn't care about who they hurt in turn. Unrepentant, all three of them.

Cozy was fine with making the ponies fight each other, was only concerned how the Windigos would be a threat to her personal wellbeing, and willingly joined in threatening to tear off Spike's wings to make the Mane Six back down.

So I'm curious. What atrocities would child villains like Cozy have to do before "they're just a child" was irrelevant?

The publishing dates are kind of end up screwed. I believe chapter 4 and 5th are supposed to be published in October. I don't know how I ended up missing the update

10496461
Yeah, Idk what the hell's going on with that.
My best guess is that since I created the chapters long before I published them (because they weren't finished) and the site counts the creation date as the "correct date" for some stupid reason and fucks it all up.

I guess rape, murder and gratuitous violence, plus a psych evaluation to make sure she doesn't have something mentally wrong with her.

My biggest point of contention is that Cozy hasn't done anything worse than any other antagonist of this show. She tried and failed to take over the world and was mean to some people. To Tartarus with her!
All despite the fact that she can't manipulate people anymore because they know she's full of shit now, she doesn't have any special powers whatsoever besides flight and that she's a little filly so she can't exactly hurt anybody.
They could have just put up signs everywhere with a picture of her saying "This filly lies!" and it would have solved the problem just as well.

I guess rape, murder and gratuitous violence, plus a psych evaluation to make sure she doesn't have something mentally wrong with her.

Well if we are going by Law And Order standards, that actually is pretty much par for the course.

They could have just put up signs everywhere with a picture of her saying "This filly lies!" and it would have solved the problem just as well.

Worse. It would have solved the problem better. The reason she was able to get away with so much in Season 9 is because no one knew who she was, including employees of the royal court.

Its not just questionable ethics, it's shoddy management, on top of everything else.

So now she hates the princess?? And all her human friends hate her too??? But that's not right.

How was what Twilight did attempting to kill Cozy? It was just imprisonment until they could find a way to convince them to adopt a more peaceful lifestyle.

Yeah.
The show's ending does show Twilight as pretty damn hypocritical.

10452825
The story A Simple Discussion has Principal Celestia at least talking to Starswirl the Bearded and Princess Twilight about the problem of Earth being a dumping ground for magical artifacts.

She could really go for a drink right about now, but all of her booze was in her old apartment.

Wait are the girls adults now?

Also enjoyed this despite the wait.

10510718
This fic literally points it out.

10510943
Hardly. Cozy turned all of Equestria against each other, tried to straight-up murder Twilight and her friends, and before any of that, tricked them into getting trapped in Tartarus. Being a child does not absolve her of punishment, because she was well aware of what she was doing, and enjoyed it.

And the claim in the penultimate chapter that Cozy was evil because it was "expected" of her made no sense. The whole point of Cozy was that no-one would expect such a cute-looking character to be a power-hungry mastermind. Cozy's original plan had nothing to do with what others "expected" of her.

10511011
Lol. You know; this all reminds me a little of Boa Hancock from the One Piece anime:

Hancock: "No matter what I do, the world will forgive me...because I am beautiful!"

Cozy Glow: "No matter what I do, the world will forgive me...because I'm a child!"

Well, not so much forgive but she's the one everybody tries to rationalize.

10510220
No, but Sunset is an adult in a teenage body. Also, she doesn't care about pesky things like drinking law. She'll have a drink whenever she damn pleases!
EDIT: Actually, I made some calculations and by the dates I've set as Sunset's birthday, she is over 18 at this point in time.

10509453
Ahem. It's only temporary if they decide to unpetrify them. Othervise, it's execution.
And concidering nobody ever tried to convince them before turning them to stone, I doubt this very much.

10511011
Nice headcanon there!
But seriously though. It's my fic and that's what happened.

Also, whether being a child excuse her or not has been debated to death already. Let's just say that I think it does and you don't.

10512261
Discord eventually got a chance, why wouldn't they?
