3 out of 5. I never give a rating under 4 unless I state the reason, for constructive criticism sake.
It's interesting to say the least, but the way it's drawn out is just... meh. I understand how the narrator is the paleontologist speculating the scene , but it feels weird having a first person omniscient narrator. The speculation isn't even rational. Don't know if you meant it that way or what. Even if it was a regular third person narration, it still seemed like an odd scene without a real motive; but otherwise, I see no problem with the overall concept.
Or maybe I'm just not seeing it the way it's supposed to be seen.

The real truth is, the first and second chapter aren't actually linked all that closely. The paleontologist isn't reconstructing the stories, the speculation remains vague, just a feeling. It's just us who have the privilege to travel back in time and watch a few anecdotes from Pinkie's life in Ponyville, learning things the scientist can't ever possibly find out
