I think for me I didn't give Celestia a Borg name so that 1. I wouldn't have to look back later on for what it was and 2. Plot reasons that probably never ended up in the final fic. (I know you said mostly rhetorical... *mostly* rhetorical, so I answered the question anyway. Apologies if you didn't actually want an answer)
