After Luna finds out that Celestia has adopted a student, Luna also decides to have a student so that she can have somepony to teach with. But who would want to be a student of the night princess? And most importantly, who likes and enjoys Luna's night? The answer may be right in front of her: Trixie, a unicorn filly who has great talent in magic and is capable of doing very magnificent tricks for her age.

Luna, noticing the filly's great talent, decides to make her student. Sunset Shimmer and Trixie, despite not talking so much, are quite friends. But will the two fillies continue to be friends despite their fights or will one of them go crazy for power resulting in possibly their friendships ending?
