An engineer transplanted from Earth tries to take his work with him to Equestria, but it's a mare's world here, and he's not taken seriously. Teaming up with a purple alicorn gives him a shot at making his dreams a reality.
So he managed to be in a romantic relationship with the princess of lectures for how long without having any knowledge of what magic could do? Lived in a library for how long without picking up a book on magic?
Your sudden appearance and this story was... a happy surprise for the New Year... However, this story's portrayal for the male populace in Equestria... I am for once/rarely am expressing disgust... this doesn't happen to me often as the most disagreeable and psychological world-views from various stories has never struck me this hard.
Now I imagine every male character - from Equestria, is a pony... even the ones from the show and I know some of their character and background - as a bunch of Bluebloods... but worse. The feeling of being belittle because of one detail is something that hits me hard, so... I'm conflicted about this story, but I'll still read.
I spotted at least one grammar mistake.
You look back down at the collection if knickknacks across your desk.
Replace the "if" with an "of"; another question, when did you started writing this story because it be legend-tier level if this took a week-straight and a day straight would be god-tier level.
Anyway, so far I can't tell if this should go under my regular favorites or mature favorites?
Maybe it's just who is doing the talking, but damn, these mares seem really prejudiced against their male counterparts. I like what you got going, but I'm not going to lie, I'm having a hard time imagining Twilight Sparkle dropping a line like; "Never send a stallion to do a mare's work." I would think she of all mares would be amongst the most egalitarian (in the Canterlot scene).
10273515 Unfortunately egalitarian in this context can easily mean 'believes that (female) donkeys aren't good for nothing whorses, that (female) zeebras aren't stone age savages, and that (female) griffons aren't monsters to be killed on sight'. Being more enlightened simply means being less ignorant than your fellows, not that you aren't ignorant about anything.
10284440 While you are correct, I would counter with the simple question; Can you actually hear Twilight uttering that phrase (unironically)? I can't. This is one of the few things I have a really hard time with in this story.
11072741 Rgre always frustrated me because my brain is expecting “inverse” and often men in these are subjected to all sorts of ridicule. I know men tend to disrespect women irl, but like damn

Well this is interesting.
Here I was going to sleep but now a decent sized well written RGRE is dropped in my lap? Happy new year indeed!

That play by play with celestia could have been a story in an of itself.
And it's better when everyone knows he's hers, but he's only seeing the wavetops
Your scores confused me for a while. To others: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_scoring_system#Description

Thou art my savior!
I'd say it's likely quite difficult to do any meaningful astronomy from within a dream...
So... *shipping goggles on* ...who's it going to be?

Idk
in a RGRE universe, I could hear Twi say it considering I've heard her va say some raunchy stuff.
11072475
There's a difference between raunchy and sexist.
My tiny marble brain is expanding while I read this.
