It's important to guide a child on their own path. Two of the biggest party ponies in all of Equestria will learn this importance this Hearth Warming's season. A grandfather with a keen eye must step in to provide some helpful insight.

This is my Jinglemas 2019 entry for MrNumbers. I hope it's to his taste.

I've studied him.

That was a sweet story, though honestly, the jokes felt out of place, particularly that one about Li'l Cheese coming out. I think it would have been stronger without those. I enjoyed seeing Igneous interact with Li'l Cheese and her discovering a path in life different from her parents.

As an aside, the closest thing to an official word says that Li'l Cheese is male, but it's also not the official word, so I'm fine with female Li'l Cheese.

Yeah I was having trouble including the rest of the family in the story and I was afraid the jokes would be out of place but I was trying to find a way for overreactions to take place, as well as some comedic relief. I guess we’ll see what the consensus is on them.
Also, in the show Little (Lil’?) Cheese was animated with eyelashes but apparently there’s some comics where he/she exists as a he, so it felt pretty up in the air with that detail. I tried to follow the pony wiki, but I didn’t know whether it was a good source or not, so I stuck with the show.
I’m glad some people are enjoying this story though! I noticed there’s not a lot of content involving Igneous so it was fun to add some depth to his character. Thanks for the constructive notes!

Sorry this took me so long to get around to, I had a busy Christmas

There are so many things here that I feel are references to my work, but I've long forgotten. It's a really bizarre feeling to see someone with a better knowledge of your work than you do - heaven help me, I'd even forgotten about the Barcast interviews, and that's probably for the best.

Incredibly flattering with a terrifying aura.

“NO! Mom, Dad, I think I’m an engineer!”, what an absolutely gorgeous line.

Thank you so much for replying! Honestly what I took more away from the Barcast than how to write my fic was how to be a better and more-open writer. I think I only had like one or two references to your work/ideas so you're fine!
