I really enjoy your world-building, and it's great to see some fantastic Twilight and Discord interaction. Additionally, to see you hitting this idea with your own history is something we rarely get to experience, so thank you so much for building more on this and pushing it out.

But yeah, this is super good. The Twilight/Discord bromance is really sweet, and I'm a sucker for hurt and comfort. I'm excited for their team up to save Flutters, especially their attempts to contact past Chaos avatars. I'm sure that'll be fun and not at all stressful for them! What's more relaxing than trying to hypnotize your friend so he can talk to chaotic ghosts in a desperate attempt to save his wife?? Talk about great team bonding

I know it's near-Pinkie levels of inappropriate, but I can't help but imagine Twilight going from confusion to delight to frustration in the space of a few minutes when her ethereal mane comes in.
As for Discord's passive mutagenic potential, I'm not sure. I figure any free radicals he'd give off would be microscopic revolutionaries or nanohippies... but I could definitely see chaotic transformations leaving the target with transcription errors.
I also love how one of Twilight's top priorities was finding a way to replace herself as Equestria's chief executive. She's not falling into the same trap as Celestia. (And heck, she may still be sore about Sunhorse pawning the nation off on her so suddenly.) President Applejack coming in to emphasize that earth ponies aren't second-class citizens is especially fantastic.
Looking forward to seeing where you go with this, especially given that author's note. Sorry for the irreverent tone of the comment; I share Pinkie's coping mechanisms.
Hmm... there's an obvious thing here which is going unspoken, but I figure that's wholly deliberate. As long as they focus on what's in front of them, they don't have to look beyond the horizon.
