If you don't mind me asking, is there any particular reason you chose hickory?
Where hickory is well known for its heating qualities and the flavors it adds during the smoking process it is rarely sought after for fire places.
Light aromatic woods are highly sought after, sassafras and cedar are prime examples. Sugar maple and black cherry are also both good choices as they have a very aesthetically pleasing appearance when stacked.
I suppose there's nothing wrong with burning hickory in a fire place, it just seems like an odd choice.

First off, I don't mind you asking and no offence taken. I have little experience with fireplaces and the ideal firewood. So, I Googled info about firewood and found this site that explained about Hickory Firewood. From what I read it sounded like a good idea to use it for the story. So that's why I went with it.

I've thought about whether Mistybelle in its transparent pony shape resembles that, but with the colors of the story.
