Odd and unpopular pairing, but sometimes a good story can be found for it. It's no necessarily my ultimate favorite Spike ship, but it's interesting to see how things can play out. This is by far the best one I've read. Kudos!!

I truly believe that a well written story can honestly make many if not all ships work, and you’ve done just that! I loved wondering what it was Spike did that caused all of this, and the execution of it was really well done and fit the story. Didn’t feel out of place or anything. This was a REALLY good read and just what I needed to get in the writing mood myself. Definitely going to come back sometime and give this a reread.

More unconventional spike ships please
Surprisingly good does not properly do this justice, but this was surprisingly good. The story was deep without being pretentious and without hampering itself with to much back story. It's what I like in a deep story, it says a lot without saying too much.

So from what I gather from this,Rarity is getting mugged, so Spike kills the guy (burned to ashes maybe?), And ponies being the nonviolent species they are, turn Spike into a pariah (I assume he didn't face much in the way of legal ramifications as Rarity's life was at stake) and Rarity decides to break it off with Spike to save her career. The rest of the Mane 6 are also disgusted to varying degrees (except Rainbow).
Man, poor Spike.
