I've been writing and selling stories for longer than a lot of folks reading this have been alive. Check Baal Bunny for more!

E

Not long after her and Luna's retirement, Celestia receives a visit from an old...friend? Comrade-at-arms? Fellow immortal? Hopeless crush of her distant youth?

After everything that's happened over the centuries, Celestia's not at all sure what Scorpan is to her any more. The almost-forgotten stirrings in her chest, though, tell her quite clearly what she'd like him to be...

My entry in Jake The Army Guy's Horseword Extravaganza 2: The Horsewordening with the prompt of "Beyond Equestria's Borders," this story didn't make the Top Six.

Interesting ship, I'm here for it.

He brushed at his chest fur. "It won't be the first time I've been intensely scrutinized by an Equestrian princess."

Hah!

Gotta watch out for those butterflies.

When you're old and retired, you learn to seize the moment.

It occurs to me that that brief description we got of the spell said nothing about gargoyle males and alicorn females.

Can't there be a story where Scorpan is wanted for treason?

Write the story you wish to see in the world.

"in good conscious" is a typo for "in good conscience".

Thanks, folks!

Scorpan was always my favorite character from the original run of Pony--I was in college at the time and would set my VCR to record the show--so I was happy they found a place for him in the FiM version of things. But it's in issue #2 of the Fiendship is Magic comic book series that we get to see him as the good son to Tirek's bad son. As for "good conscious," I've been having trouble sleeping lately, so consciousness has been on my mind a lot... :twilightsheepish:

Huh. Never thought Scorpan and Tirek were from another world.

So who was that butterfly, anyway?

Thanks, folks!

I haven't got anything more to say about these folks right now, but anything's possible in the future, I reckon. As for Tirek and Scorpan coming from a different world, the show and the comics just say they're from a distant land. I decided to extrapolate a bit on that. And Starswirl and Celestia both seem to think that the butterfly was a manifestation of the Spirit of Harmony.

Scorpan's smile broadened. "Dost forgottenst me so precipitously, Captain Moonbutt?"

I love how much this says in so few words.

having Luna for a sister, she'd mastered the art of blush concealment before she'd ever heard the word 'alicorn'

Also this.

Laughing, Celestia swung her tail over to thump him in the small of the back. "I thought we said we were taking things slow."

"And by 'slow,' I of course mean 'when Star Swirl finally dies.'"
"If you didn't want to be wed, you could've just turned down the proposal."

Magnificent work throughout. I don't think I've ever seen this ship, to say nothing of moments of brilliance like Tirek as an interplanar raider, the history behind the brothers' perplexing parentage, and the best justification I've ever seen for Discord suggesting petrification. And the moment with Scorpan before the statue... *chef's kiss*

Quality content throughout. Thank you for it, and best of luck in the judging.

Thanks, FoME:

I enjoy writing "high verbal" characters because it lets me leak that bantering style into the narrative.

And then Chrysalis and Discord hook up... which is when things REALLY get weird!

:applejackconfused:

my mother's father's mother, the most powerful gargoyle warlock of her generation, in her madness developed a spell to sterilize every centaur everywhere.

Demona? Is that you, you fiend? Lol, awesome story!

A well-done rare pair. I'm glad I saved this contest entry for last. It was a nice romp packed with lore and fun. I got a very happily ever after vibe showing through by the story's end. Admittedly, I would like to see a follow-up detailing an equally fun rare pair romance for Luna too. Happy princesses are nice and made the story a real treat.

If there's one (of many!) reasons I hate myself, it's that I let fics like this languish in my RiL. This was fantastic!

This is the same reason I love writing Luna.

A quick teleportation spell filled Luna's mouth with cake,.

Me and every older sister on the planet wishs we had that that spell to deal with younger siblings.
