Always happy to help - especially since I'm starting to get into clopfic myself. Would asking on a blog to have FIMFic's residents help me out with ideas seem a bit desperate, or should I go for it? I'm a... bit torn. But I want to be as successful as you are one day, and I... well I'd need to have a way to portray more ideas somehow. Heaven knows how limited I am with all the premises I juggle for Carnation.

I say go for it, every fic is practice and everyone who writes a lot produces duds on occasion. Many of my fics, such as this one, came from ideas given to me by fans. Granted it can be hard to get responses to blog posts, but you've got nothing to lose by trying.
In truth most of my success comes from writing about Spike, who has a strong built in fanbase. Wasn't my intention to be a Spike writer, but he's my most requested character by some distance. Other than that it's mostly just producing content constantly and putting it into groups where it will hopefully do well.
I'd be far more successful if I never wrote edgy stuff, which always makes me lose followers, but I have to be true to what I wish to write. Sunset Shimmer and Luna are also characters with strong built in audiences, although readers get angrier if you don't portray them how they wish, as I've often experienced since I write in elements of Sunset's initial characterization.
(I was a Sunset fan pre-reformation.)

Thanks for the idea, Sharaz. To be honest, I was thinking of going the favorite character route myself recently; 'tis why my newest and first clopfic I dropped today had the allegedly sexiest background pony ever, Cloudchaser, in it.
Might kick up a Patreon too: I originally had issues with this because of if feeling a touch selfish, considering (waves around at everything). But I'm already kicking up money to Leech, Wintermist, Lewd and FIMFic itself, and if I don't consider what I do here to have value, it'd be even more contradictory to start hitting up Leech for a story collab.

Nothing wrong with getting paid for producing work an audience enjoys! Although I've always hesitated myself, as I consider my prose mediocre, and couldn't ask for payment unless a fan was highly satisfied, which puts a lot of pressure on me!
Good luck getting a collab! Always been too shy to ask for one, although a couple writers approached me and we've turned out a couple fics. (One helped me with my personal favorite fic I've written, The Depths of Oblivion, the other ìs still slowly sending chapter outlines for I Dream of Succubi.)
Sadly I can't contribute money to anyone as I'm dead broke and always a hair away from being homeless, otherwise I'd go around commissioning fics for my OC!
