A new friend

Celestia was looking at the moon. She couldn’t stop crying. She had to banish her sister Luna to the moon. More tears came out of her eyes, “Luna, forgive me!” She returned to the castle floor. She couldn’t help noticing that the elements of Harmony were now nothing more than stones. Now when Luna or Nightmare Moon was released from the moon, nothing would stop her from causing eternal night. She decided to go to her room, “Princess, are you ok?”

Celestia looked at a royal guard, “yes. Don’t worry”

The guard didn’t know if he should accept, “Are you sure? You’re crying”

“Please don’t worry about me,” said Celestia. “It’s just something bad that happened today”

“Would you like to tell me what happened?” asked the royal guard.

“No. But thank you for volunteering”, said Celestia, before heading to the castle corridor.

As she walked into the castle, she could feel nothing but sadness. She lost her sister. Forever. She wondered if Luna regretted what she did. She wondered if Luna will return as Luna and would ask for forgiveness.

This was all my fault. Please forgive me, Luna…

When Celestia arrived in her room, she closed the door and threw herself on the bed while crying. She couldn’t stop crying. She wished there was a way to talk to Luna. Whether by herself going to the moon or some other way. She couldn’t deny that now she felt alone. Without her sister, she didn’t know if she would be able to rule Equestria. She couldn’t be strong for her subjects. Suddenly a fire went to Celestia and caressed her, there, there, Celestia. Don’t be sad.

Celestia, still in tears, looked into the fire, “a talking fire? This is one of the new”

The fire laughed, talking fire? I am not a talking fire.

Celestia wiped her tears with a hoof, “If you’re not a talking fire, what are you then?”

I am… The fire began to rise until the fire disappeared and formed a white mare with orange armor and dragon slits. ”... Daybreaker!”

“Daybreaker?” asked Celestia confusedly.

“Yes, Celestia”, replied Daybreaker as she smiled.

“How do you know my name?” asked Celestia, still confused.

Daybreaker laughed. “I am you, Celestia. And I know all about you. I showed up when I realized you were sad and came to comfort you. What bothers you?”

Celestia cried, “I had to banish my own Sister to the moon. I tried to talk to her. But ... But ... She was blinded by hatred for me! And now, I have no one to keep me company. It’s okay that my royal guards support me and are always for me. But they are loyal to me only. They wouldn’t understand what it means to lose a Sister!” that said, Celestia cried even more.

“Celestia, you’re not alone anymore,” said Daybreaker with a smile. “You have me”

Celestia, still with tears in her eyes, looked at Daybreaker, “is it?”

“Yes, Celestia,” replied Daybreaker with a smile. “While your sister is on the moon, I will be your friend until she returns”

Celestia wiped her tears with a hoof, “thank you, Daybreaker”

Celestia had a doubt, “wait. Only I can see you or can others see you too?”

“Only you can see me”, replied Daybreaker.

Celestia let out a sigh of relief, “good”

It was another day, and Celestia had to lower the moon to raise the sun. She couldn’t help crying as she saw her sister’s silhouette on the moon. Even crying, she managed to lower the moon and then raise the sun. She threw herself on the bed and cried again. Daybreaker went to Celestia, “Celestia, please. Stop crying. You can cry as much as you want later. But you have to eat something”

Celestia, still crying, replied, “no! I will never eat again! Staying in the dining room will only remind me of when Luna and I ate together!”

Daybreaker didn’t know how to cheer up Celestia. Celestia was a princess, “Celestia, aren’t you going to the dining room to eat?”

Celestia shook her head, “no. If I could, I would eat in bed!”

Daybreaker had an idea, “Do you want me to get you food?”

“Y-yes. Please”, replied Celestia.

Daybreaker left the room and headed toward the dining room. She was lucky the others didn’t see her. When she entered the dining room, she took a tower of pancakes with her magic. As Daybreaker left the dining room, she heard royal guards startle.

“Ah! A floating pancake!”

“Hide! It’s a ghost!!”

Daybreaker couldn’t help but notice that sometimes it was good for her to be a ghost. She fought not to laugh. When Daybreaker arrived in Celestia’s room, she handed Celestia the pancakes, “here it is”

Celestia, still crying. Started to eat. Daybreaker just watched sadly.

A few years had passed and Celestia was no longer crying. But She was still sad about banishing Luna for the moon. Daybreaker was still beside her. Always comforting her when she’s sad. Celestia got a new student. Her name was Sunset Shimmer. Celestia liked Sunset Shimmer. She was like a daughter to Celestia. Daybreaker was even liking Sunset Shimmer. Well, until Sunset proves to want to be a princess. And Daybreaker couldn’t help but thinks that Sunset Shimmer was very annoying. Sunset must have known who was the ruler of Equestria. Only Celestia should be the princess of Equestria. After several failed attempts by Sunset Shimmer to ask Celestia to make her an alicorn, she became angry and fled to a crystal mirror that led to another world. Celestia couldn’t stop crying after Sunset Shimmer fled to the next world. She had already lost Luna and now lost Sunset Shimmer, who was like a daughter to her. And Daybreaker, as usual, was by Celestia’s side comforting her.

“I can’t believe I missed Sunset Shimmer! She was like a daughter to me! Why did she have to leave me?” cried Celestia sadly.

“I know, Celestia. She was also like a daughter to me”, said Daybreaker.

“Will she ever return to Equestria? Will she make it up to me?” asked Celestia, still crying.

“Well, I don’t predict future. But I’m sure maybe someday she’ll return to Equestria and maybe even apologize”, said Daybreaker.

It had been a few years now, and Celestia was preparing for the Summer Sun Celebration. She was no longer as sad as before. Daybreaker advised to always smile and that’s what Celestia did. When the trumpet rang, Celestia and Daybreaker climbed the stairs that led up to the stage. Celestia and Daybreaker looked at the audience. Daybreaker noticed a lavender-colored unicorn filly smiling at Celestia. Daybreaker could feel nothing, but smile back. She knew the unicorn isn’t seeing her. But seeing somepony smile at Celestia made her happy.

Celestia began to fly to lower the moon and raise the sun. When Celestia did this, Daybreaker stared at the lavender-colored filly, I never saw a foal so happy to see Celestia raise the sun.

When Celestia finished, everypony applauded. Well, minus the filly, that was smiling in wonder. Daybreaker couldn’t take the smile off her face, this filly is so cute!!

When the celebration was over, Celestia was walking in the town of Canterlot, next to the Gifted Unicorn School. Daybreaker was at her side, “Celestia, have you ever looked at that lavender-colored unicorn filly?”

Celestia was confused, “What lavender-colored unicorn filly?”

“The unicorn filly who was watching the Summer Sun Celebration”, replied Daybreaker.

“Ah. I think I know who you’re talking about”, said Celestia. She remembered seeing a unicorn filly smiling.

Suddenly they felt a tremor. Celestia and Daybreaker looked up and saw the head of a green-scaled purple dragon, “what’s going on?”

“I don’t know. I better go see it”, said Celestia before rushing into the school.

As Celestia and Daybreaker ran into the room from which it was happening, several ponies ran out. Celestia came to a door and saw the same unicorn filly she saw at the celebration. Daybreaker was impressed, this foal is so talented…

Celestia went to the filly and touched her on the back. The filly looked at Celestia. The filly’s eyes were shining white. The filly managed to regain control of her magic. The unicorns fell to the ground, the filly’s parents were no longer plants, and the adult dragon was a baby again. The dragon sucked on its tail.

“Twilight Sparkle”, began Celestia.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t want to ...” interrupted Twilight Sparkle.

“You have a very special gift. I have never met a unicorn with his innate abilities”, said Celestia.

“Huh?” asked Twilight Sparkle in a confused way.

“But you need to master these skills through study,” said Celestia. “Twilight Sparkle, I would like you to become my student at school”

“Uh ?!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle surprised at what Celestia said.

“Do you accept?” asked Celestia.

“Yes!!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle happily in the air.

“Another thing, Twilight”, interrupted Celestia.

“More?” asked Twilight Sparkle before falling to the floor.

Celestia approached Twilight Sparkle and pointed to Cutie Mark who had on Twilight Sparkle. Cutie Mark was a six-pointed pink star surrounded by five white stars.

“My Cutie Mark!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle happily.

Twilight Sparkle started jumping around Celestia shouting “yes” happily. In response, Celestia just smiled. Daybreaker couldn’t help but smile.

This filly is very cute!! I want to hug her and never let her go!!

“Twilight,” said Celestia. Twilight Sparkle has stopped jumping. “Come on. I’ll show you my room ”

“Oh. Of course, princess”, smiled Twilight Sparkle.

Daybreaker was surprised. She has never seen a filly call Celestia a princess. Daybreaker realized that Celestia was no longer in the room. She ran to catch up with Celestia and Twilight Sparkle.

“This is your room, Twilight”, said Celestia.

Twilight Sparkle smiled when she saw her room, “thank you, princess”, said Twilight Sparkle, before closing the door. Twilight Sparkle hoped Celestia didn’t think she was being rude.

Celestia looked back and saw Daybreaker running to her. When she reached Celestia, she stopped running and began to gasp in exhaustion, “You and Twilight are very light”

“Sorry, Daybreaker”, said Celestia, before starting to walk toward her room. Daybreaker followed her.

Daybreaker couldn’t help noticing that Celestia seemed much happier. It was as if Twilight Sparkle had brightened Celestia’s life the moment Twilight became a student of Celestia.

“Celestia, I realize you’ve been much happier since Twilight became your student”, said Daybreaker.

“Yes. Why?” asked Celestia.

“Because I already think with Twilight Sparkle on your side. I don’t think you need me anymore to keep me company”, replied Daybreaker.

Celestia was surprised, “what? No! I mean… Yes… But… ”

“Celestia, please. Try to understand. You’re already happier. And I could see in your smile as you watched Twilight jump for joy at winning the Cutie Mark. You don’t need my company anymore,” said Daybreaker. “You’re not even as sad as that day you banished Luna to the moon”

“Yes. You’re right”, said Celestia.

“Celestia, I’ll say goodbye. But know one thing: If you feel alone again, know that you will have Twilight Sparkle”, said Daybreaker.

“Yes. I know”, said Celestia.

“Well, goodbye, Celestia. It was good to keep you company for these thousandth years”, said Daybreaker before hugging Celestia. Celestia was surprised, but soon hugged Daybreaker back.

When Daybreaker stepped out of the hug, she stepped away from Celestia, “well… goodbye”, Daybreaker turned a fire and went out the castle window.

Celestia looked at the window before looking at the door where her student was. She smiled.

Thank you, Twilight. For making me happy… And you too, Daybreaker.

Daybreaker laughed, “I am you, Celestia. And I know all about you. I showed up when I realized you were sad and came to comfort you. What bothers you?”

This was a great, thoughtful read. Could definitely use some edits, but I could settle down and enjoy it without seeing them in every corner. Up here was what stood out the most to me. Daybreaker says she knows all about Celestia... but then asks 'what bothers you?' Seems like if she knew everything, she wouldn't have to ask.
Was still a sweet moment, and I liked this. Nice work.
