When her family's budget isn't quite enough to send her to Camp Everfree, Scootaloo's parents send her to the only other camp in the tri-state area.
She has some rather strong feelings on this.
UPDATE: This story took 9th place runner up in the Feghoot Festival contest!
...
Well damn.
That's creative.
Can't even get mad about it.
Well done.
Ooo, that ending
Wow. Just, wow. I had fun with this. Poor Scoots, but all the same, this was pretty damn hilarious.
I don't get it. Are you sure you understand the concept of a feghoot?

I might be pushing the boundaries a bit of what qualifies, but I thought it was worth a chuckle.

Many of the summaries of the events are jokes based on song titles. For example:
Hall of the Mountain King
Ride of The Valkyries.
Admittedly, I don't know the four seasons and the penny one. What is that supposed to be?
9717412
Four Seasons is just a piece. Also present:
The Well Tempered Clavier. Flight of the bumblebee. Tocatta and Fugue In D Minor.
9717412
9717425
I would point out that it's Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, hence the additional descriptor of them being vivacious.

There's ten songs in all, though I admit one of them is kinda cheap and easily missed.
9717438 All in that last paragraph? I'm afraid I can only spot eight, hope someone else manages to get the last two.
Subtle. I like it.
9717449
It's probably the cheap one that you can't see. And the other is a bit farther up. About as far up as you can go, actually.
9717460
Thanks!
9717462
Are you referring to the story and chapter title, and it's connection to an Allan Sherman song?
9717509
Correct!
9717412
that's a beethoven piano thing, i think.
edit: there we are
I was laughing the entire time, but "Feast with Fear" made me lose it. Kudos
Snap Shutter: "Hm, we didn't have a message when we left. How every odd."
*Tape playing* "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. Here I am at, Camp Sonata."
Snap Shutter: "Mane, is Scootaloo at Camp Sonata?"
9718063 Adored it. Good work. (Video attached for you poor children too young to remember Alan Sherman)
9718063
I've been waiting and watching and wondering just how long we would last before someone made that reference.
I was well aware of the "Camp Granada" reference from the beginning, though some of the song references near the end escape me. Those, however, weren't what made me laugh. This was:
For that, you get a like.

"Only the most subtle of references."
I admit, I had to check the comments to know what to look for. I wasn't expecting that kind of wordplay cluster bomb. Still, there are some fascinating tidbits slipped in here, like the nature of kirin analogues and how bees interact with technicolor horse people. I imagine Rainbow Dash has a lot of problems there.
In all, definitely a fun little story with some very interesting ideas. Best of luck in the contest.
Wow. As with every feghoot for this contest, I'm reading it sortof looking out for what the pun might be. I'd noticed there were quite a range of weird elements being set up, and wasn't sure whether there'd be a payoff for them or not, if they were all going to be punned on or were just background weirdness. And wow, did you make them pay off! That closing paragraph was awesome but I completely didn't see it coming. Very impressive.
I also love that after the two "not a Dazzling honest" names, we get "Sonata Personyouveevermetbefore". Delightful.
Best of luck in the contest! (We short-feghoot-for-a-long-phrase authors need to stick together anyway )
Hilarious
I only caught the one obvious song reference, to Allen Sherman. Missed all the others.
But I love the whole "This is horrible" ... small small print I thought something messed up ... "Kindly disregard this voicemail".
I love that Sonata has to still be called Sonata because she would forget an assumed name was her. :D
9717648
I need to know this reference!
I know the song you were referencing, but I still love this commercial.
Wouldn't that be never?
And wow, the general public is not going to get those classical music puns.
9762161
Possibly, but I think at least a few will and will enjoy it. Though I think there's enough well known ones for the average reader to at least pick up what the gag is supposed to be
And no, 'ever' is intentional, but I see why you'd think that. The joke takes her first name into account as well. As in: "Hi campers! I'm So not a Person you've ever met before."
Well played, sir. Well played.
Oof, that was painful. I like the shotgun approach!
This story is cute.
9757625
That was cute.
I...........think I actually got all of those. "Rise of the vault fees" eluded me until I said it out loud.
