Let's heat this up, because writing always gets me worked up, and in an awesome way!

T

It was Christmas when it all started.

Christmas was an amazing time of year, and it seemed that everything would simply pass by.

Until she stumbled onto a detective's doorstep in the middle of the night, with nowhere left to turn.

Join Deadwood the Detective as he walks through case after case, using connections and common sense to help those who no one else will listen to, sometimes even for free.

Justice sometimes really is its own reward.

(This story was sort of inspired by all the Anon-a-Miss stories I'm seeing pop up. As someone who was out of the loop for a while, this gives me the ability to write interesting case stories, and create something that I've always wanted to make - a detective story. The first chapter is more of an alternate ending to Diann's own Anon-a-miss story.)

(This story is a case-by-case story - if you feel you've got an interesting 'case file', don't hesitate to send it to me!)

There's a reason this keeps popping up. People keep trying to fix the steaming pile of horse shit that was the comic. And failing miserably in the process.

...well most of the time...
Some of them are good reads.

9699884
Yeah. This was more based around Diann's fic on the matter, at least, the one chapter of this was. I'm honestly gonna say I'm not that great at Detective stories... and I also wrote this at 2 in the morning.

Of course, this was an experiment in a different writing style. It's more that I did... okay at writing this than fully succeeded.

Honestly it wasn't bad. Not great but enjoyable.

Will we see what goes on with the Rainbooms and CMC and such at times?

9700345
Maybe. This isn't a story with an ending yet, so I may bring up interactions between the Rainbooms, the CMC, and Deadwood. I don't write detective stories often, so there is that.

9700389
True enough. A large majority of the stories seem to focus on creating a 'spectacle' rather than trying to present a story that would logically fix the comic.

I HAVE read a few of them. Some are... painful to sit through, but others are decently written.

You can always tell what an author has the most passion for if you pay attention to their writing. I find it difficult to write genres like detective, or really dramatic pieces, since I myself am not actually a dramatic person.

I do like honest criticism, and I appreciate all the comments so far.

Hey I think this was really done well!! Please keep it up when you get a chance cause this is awesome!

Thanks. I'm not normally a detective-story writer, which I did believe came across in how I wrote. I do recommend taking a read of my other stories, as most of my work is a labour of love, especially my sci-fi stuff.

Your welcome it's probably better than I can write as I'm not a writer the best I can do is give ideas for stories.

I thought I wouldn't like this story but wow I was proven wrong it was a lot of fun to read if a bit fast paced.

Detective stories aren't my forte, but I'm glad people enjoy it.

The lyrics, " I hurt myself, today, to see if i still feel" " i focus, on the pain, the only thing, that's real'.
That's Hurt by N.I.N(Nine Inch Nails) and was made by Trent Reznor, and was covered by the legendary Johnny cash, which to me sounds so much better, and was used as the first trailer theme for the movie, LOGAN(2017) which sets Logan's story perfectly.

when you mentioned, "he could have sworn she saw the image of a kindly old man in the back of her head". you mentioned Johnny Cash, in which in the music video on YouTube for Hurt Johnny Cash was an old man sitting in what appeared to be a leather chair as he held his acoustic guitar and strummed that tune, he also played the piano part which i actually cried to.

R.I.P Mr Johnny Cash, your legacy shall live on through your music and your kids. rest happily in the afterlife Mr.Cash.

Yeah. I've got nothing but respect for Johnny Cash's legacy, and that song is one of my favourites, which is why I love it.

cool man.
I made a Sunset Shimmer x Son of Wolverine story on www.wattpad.com
my user is Instantwins24YT
please go ahead and read it.

I really enjoyed this story and hope that someday you'll come back to it.

10445197
Thanks. I'm not doing much writing at the moment, as I'm trying to figure out what kind of 'Case File' I want to do next.

I mean, seriously, how do I go UP from this one?

10449733
You're very welcome, gotcha.

What do you mean by "UP from this one"?

10450003
As in "How do I go on from a part of the story where it went from 0 to 100 real quick?"

One of the major problems I have come across (And a problem I have decently enough when it comes to certain stories of mine) is pacing. However, people seem more to expect a higher pace if you go from a small-time sort of style (The first 'Case File') to jumping straight into weird action. I'm working on the next Case File, but it's gonna be a while, and I hope it is well received.

10451363
Gotcha, thanks for explaining it.

Bummer to hear that, do the best you and take as much time as you need to write out the next case file.

10451475
This and Future Tactics are what I currently am working on atm.

Geez, how petty can you get?

10457069
Depends - I've met some pretty petty people in my life. People that would DEFINITELY clarify as borderline sociopathic.

10457169
True, but it doesn't make my statement less true.

Poor Snips and Snails. Such simple yet effective characters. Probably Sunset's last true friends from CHS.

Are you by chance, a sherlock holmes fan?

11171509
It felt like that reading this. The way deadwood talk felt like sherlock.

11171674
it's a little bit of that and a little bit of Murdoch Mysteries in a way. I consider what you said as a compliment, so I hope it was. Thank you for reading regardless.

11171902
I haven't changed this avatar in 6 years, which is... hilarious to me.

11172503
Haha.... same here.
Had the same avatar since 2013.
Before that it was a picture of ''Hägar the Horrible''.

But remember that Richard is the mayor of ''Pretty Pretty Unicorn'', a nice little village up the coast.

11175438
I FORGOT that was the name of the village!

Megacity?
As in "Dredd"?

11464061
Funnily enough, no. Something that I've had in the back for a while, and I've been wanting to use.
