Never give up writing. You have some good elements, what you need now is practice.
Writing in the present tense (She walks over to the door) is usually more difficult to write than the past tense (She walked to the door) And in present tense if feels more like a script than a story.
Some of the other problems will work themselves out as long as you keep practicing. Keep those ideas coming and keep up the good work.
